Imagine: SVT Hoshi (Kwon Soonyoung) & Nonbinary Reader
You wanted to experiment with they/them pronouns and a gender neutral name, but weren’t sure who to talk about it with. You end up asking Soonyoung, your good friend who always seems to value what you say, if he would try out the different name and pronouns with you. It wasn’t something he had a lot of experience with, but he always thought that people should be able to express gender in whatever way they wanted.
He was the first person you told about this and weren’t really ready for others to know, so he doesn’t have many opportunities to use them verbally, but he tries to incorporate them in different ways. He will write you little notes addressing you with your new name and whenever he was talking about you with strangers, he would refer to you as his friend, your new name, and use they/them. Each time you you were referred to in this way or opened up his notes you couldn’t help but smile from ear to ear. He loved getting to make you smile that big
It was these small things that made you comfortable to ask others around you to also refer to you with these terms. You were so glad that nothing changed between the two of you. Soonyoung would still give you snuggles and smile so bright. It was also fun to him that it was a sort of a secret code name and even as you use the new name and pronouns more frequently, he still sends you those little notes. And he doesn’t judge you if you sometimes ask if he would try other names out occasionally. As long as he got his hugs.
