A quick rant I would like to share, idk if there are any Undertale/Deltarune fans here (I'm sure there's plenty) but- both games have protagonists that use they/them pronouns- Frisk and Chara in Undertale and Kris in Deltarune.
Now, still in the big 2025, I see A LOT of people who keep misgendering all three of them because "it's their headcanon" and "it's fine because they're meant to represent the player so we can project any gender we want!" when literally the entire point of both of these games is that YOU, THE PLAYER, is a seperate entity from these characters. This is especially highlighted in Deltarune as Kris rips out their soul (hence the player) MULTIPLE TIMES, EVEN ASSERTS THEMSELVES AS THEIR OWN PERSON, literally the whole point of the story is that Kris is their own person however is -for whatever reason- forced into being controlled by us, the player. And YET people STILL have the audacity to say "oh it's ok Kris' gender is up to our interpretation so I can just call them a dude if I want!" NO HAVE YOU EVEN PLAYED THE GAME?? AT ALL???? HELLO???????
Do we really just need Kris to walk up to screen, dead ass stare at us and say "I am Kris and I am nonbinary and I use they/them pronouns" with a huge nonbinary flag behind them for those people to maybe finally understand that Kris' gender is not up to their interpretation?
Obviously Frisk and Chara too- however it's just so much worse when Deltarune fans do this because Toby Fox couldn't make it any more obvious what his intentions are.
I'm just. Really fucking tired of people man.
