Oh thank god, an actual mathematician. I would bother the one algebraic topologist I know but he’s in a different timezone and I keep forgetting to do it while he’s awake BUT ANYWAY doesn’t a trefoil knot have to be closed? Is it allowed to have ends? How would you extend a knot?
I could see the cravat having four ends and the fourth is tucked underneath but then how does it have four ends? That’s still more ends than a single strip of cloth should have!
