does lint like any flowers/plants?
very cool things  facts from my mind (may contain errors)
um.. did you know that when trees first evolved lignin there was nothing that could break it down, so when they died, they just fell and compressed into coal. fungus and bacteria eventually were able to digest wood, so that's why they're less tree corpses around. termites can only eat wood because they've got bacteria that can digest it inside them.
there're some flowers that mimic the shape and pheromones of their insect pollinators so that they'll try to mate with the flower, which is how they get pollen on them. orchids
carnivorous plants live in places with poor soil quality (low nitrogen) so they need to supplement by digesting insects
mistletoe is a poisonous parasitic plant. it's white because it has no chlorophyll of its own
hydrangeas turn different colors based on the soil pH. (pink for acidic, blue for basic)
apple breeding is complicated because two trees with similar genes can't produce fruit, they have to be different. meaning it's hard to artificially select desired traits. apple breeds are instead propagated through grafting branches from The Tree That Makes Tasty Apples onto other trees.
young sunflowers turn to face the sun every day. the bright lighting attracts pollinators. also their heads are actually a bunch of tiny flowers grouped together. mature sunflowers don't move.
brassicas are all derived from different parts of the same plant
silphium was a plant used in ancient roman cuisine as a flavoring. it was so popular they drove it to extinction, though i've heard they've discovered wild strains. a replacement is asafetida, which doesn't smell good.
we've got the most pink roses in our front yard.
plants can communicate with each other using chemical signals and root networks.
caffeine and capsaicin are intended to repel pests but humans like the taste (doses too small to kill people)
oak trees will have years where they produce way more acorns than usual to overwhelm the local herbivores and increase chances of seeding somewhere. they use prime numbers.
some trees can be either male or female. the flowers look different
watermelons are related to cucumbers. if you've ever bit into the white rind part.
you can make pinecone syrup. use young pinecones, still green/closed, not the opened up ones
bamboo is grass. palm trees is grass. corn is grass. rice is grass
alliums are a really good group of plants. they also have flowers. pompom shaped
poison ivy actually causes itching through an allergic reaction. there are people that aren't allergic to it and have no symptoms
cactus is edible. contains liquid (but i think don't drink it raw). makes fruit (dragonfruit)
angiosperms are plants that make flowers. magnolias iirc aren't flowers? and predate angiosperms?? they are the oldest
the pretty colors that leaves turn in the fall are from pigments that were always present in them; they were just overshadowed by the green. they help absorb more wavelengths of light
ummmm i don't have anything of note to say but i hope you're doing well! ^_^ that's it. hope your days are going great!
