JJxCameron!reader on poguelandia but reader is deaf and after a while on the island her hearing aids start beeping (need to be replaced) but Sarah is the only one who can speak sign language.
Fluff of JJ trying to communicate with his gf and beating himself up by the fact that he doesn’t know sign, caus she normally doesn’t need to use it !!

You were sitting with JJ helping him break sticks for the fire he was planning to start once the sun began to set when there was a familiar beep. That sudden noise caused your heart to drop, your hearing aids had just died.
JJ notices the way your smile quickly faded and you began to frantically look around.
“What’s wrong?” You could barely make out his words as you rarely needed to lip read. You continued to frown and gently tapped your right ear with a shrug of your shoulders.
His eyebrows furrowed and he said something you couldn’t make out. “Sarah?” You signed.
JJ spoke again before getting up and leaving you on your own, it hurt you to not be able to communicate with him. Just as you picked up a stick to throw it in frustration, Sarah crouched down in front of you.
“They’re both dead?” She asks.
“Yeah, I didn’t even think of that when we got stuck out here.”
“Me neither, you wanna keep them on so you don’t lose them? Or I can give them to John B to keep in his pockets, they have zippers?”
You thought for a moment before removing both hearing aids and handed them to Sarah.
“You can’t fix them?” JJ worried as he saw Sarah close her fingers delicately around the hearing aids.
“They’re dead, nothing we can do now.”
He watched Sarah walk to John B before turning his head back to you with a sympathetic frown.
You weren’t sure what exactly he said as you could only make out a few words here and there.
“What?” You signed.
He looked at you in thought before turning and walking away, and you couldn't help the hurt you felt. You resorted back to breaking up sticks and playing with sand. You were in your own world; not feeling the presence of your sister and boyfriend until Sarah nudged your foot with hers.
JJ smiles proudly: "Hungry," he signed.
"You're hungry?" You signed in confusion and watched Sarah translate for him.
"He meant 'Are you hungry?'"
“A little, I’m just annoyed about my hearing aids.”
“I know, I’m sorry,” Sarah smiled gently at you.
You could see the frustration on JJ’s face as he struggled to communicate with you, he was trying at least.
Later in the evening, you sat by yourself by the water, you were beginning to feel lonely as you couldn’t communicate with anyone besides your sister. You once again didn’t notice JJ’s presence until he rested his head on your shoulder.
Just then, a thought popped into his head: “Love you,” he drew in the sand.
“Love you too J.”
“Teach me.”
You sat with JJ and spelled out words in the wet sand and repeated the motion of your hand until JJ got it perfectly. You taught him to sign his name and how to introduce himself. You also snuck in fuck you, but that was just between the two of you.
While he was nowhere near fluent, and often mixed up signs, but he was trying, and that made your heart squeeze with love.

A Look Into Our Hearts

Note: Hii! Sorry this took me absolutely forever. I’m not totally happy with it but this is my first time doing writing like this so it’s the best i can do, enjoy!

“Hi guys! It’s Jacob and Y/n here,” Jacob smiled, looking at you.
“And here’s what a day in our life looks like!”
“We both wake up fairly early, so we’ll make breakfast and then go to the gym.”
You set the camera down on the kitchen island while you prepared breakfast.
Jacob cut fruit for a smoothie while you made you both toast.
“We don’t really eat much, cause we’ll do that after the workout but we do need something to give us energy,” Jacob said.
The scene changed to Jacob filming you as you walked into the gym, and then a few sped up clips of your workout.
“Now we’ll shower and then we’ll relax until lunch!”
Another sped up clip of you both messing around with each other post shower, just in towels as you splashed each other with cold water. And then you two calmed down as you helped each other get ready for the day. Jacob helped you dry your hair and you helped him with his skin care.
Laying on his bed, you both turned the camera back on: “We’re gonna watch a movie and chill for about an hour, then we’ll go for lunch with everybody,” Jacob announced, cuddling you into his side. He filmed you with a fond smile, you’d fallen asleep not long after the camera had been turned off.
“Stop it!” You whine as you shoved Kristian away.
“C’mon Y/n! It’s enough!” He yelled, smiling cheekily.
“Now I know how Paige feels,” you groaned, shoving Kristian one more time.
“What? Do you guys hear anything?” He teased.
“I will cut your hair again Kristian, I did it once, don't think I won’t do it again!”
“You’re like a little ant, I’d step on you if Jacob wasn’t bigger than me,” he joked.
You rolled your eyes and pouted at Jacob, slapping Kristian’s sunburnt neck before smiling at the camera triumphantly.
You both didn’t film much of lunch, but filmed your trip to Target for groceries.
You went off with Tabitha to get tampons and Jacob and the rest went to start getting things off the list. After getting all you needed, you messed around and made tik toks before going back home. A small clip of Tabitha and Thomas laughing as the filmed the two of you from around the corner, Jacob’s hands on your hips and yours in his hair. In the middle of a heated kiss.
Helping Thomas film a youtube video, filming more tik toks and getting settled down in the theatre.
You mostly filmed the silly parts, laughing and play fighting.
“Alright guys, that’s pretty much what we do during the day!” You smiled.
“It’s getting late, we’re gonna get settled into bed, thank you so much for watching!” Jacob finished.
He turned the camera off and placed it on his desk, collapsing onto the bed face first. He turned over and pulled you on top of him: “You make me so happy, Y/n. So so happy.”
“I can't even put into words the way you make me feel, Jacob Day,” you smiled, kissing him gently.
Regarding Kiss me thru the phone, I was wondering about your characters? I noticed that yn's friends are very like grown up??? if that makes sense? Are you talking about how the friend group is mature? If that's the case, I sort of made YN's friends into the kind of friends I wish I had back when I was first starting the Au. I had actually lost a ton of my friends around the time I took a break and they were already not being the best people for me to be around anymore. After losing them, I thought of all the things our friendship could have been and how I should have handled certain situations with them. I really wanted to have a more mature relationship with them, where if we argue or have a disagreement, we would talk it out like the adults we were.
Haram is a friend that always wants the best for you but had a tendency to be a bit pushy just because she's worried for you, but she's still someone you can rely on to share secrets and gossip to like school girls. She's the type of friend to invite you over when your sad and give you a makeover and talk about people you're interested in or whatever is bothering you and will just be there to listen to all your woes.
Ren is the friend who's tough on the outside but really cares for you on the inside. The type of friend who can point out when you're being stupid or if somethings not right, but saying so in a tone that won't offend you or make you feel bad about yourself. She's the type of friend that teases and lowkey bullies you but will remind you that it's all lighthearted and she really loves you in between.
Jake(as the character) is the type of friend who tries to make serious situations less scary by joking around. He's like a moodmaker. He's the type of friend that likes to mess around and have fun. He likes to get into trouble with you and likes to rely on you when another friend is teasing him. He's the goofy golden retriever friend hehe.
Jay(as the character) is the type of friend to think about you and his other friends first. He sees an event that looks like fun and immediately tells the group about it. He's the dad of the group and definitely the one who pays for everything. The type of friend to give gifts to everyone if he sees something that reminds him of you. The type of friend to wait until you go inside if he's walked you home, the type of friend to order food and medicine for you if you're sick. He's the type of friend that won't judge, but will advise.
I wanted friends just like these. And I guess writing them this way made me feel better. And I still have friends that sometimes I put our humour and characteristics into the characters. I hope this helps give you some insight on their characters!
