Playing with @nonotnolan's stories: A Warlock Tale
This Story is dedicated to my Boyfriend #NoNotNolan for a Valentine's day exchange. Love You Sweetness!!!
The small college stadium erupted in cheers as the home team scored a touchdown. I should have been excited that my team was doing so well, but I was too focused on the weird energy that started to swirl around the field. A quick glance at the opposing stands showed my cousin was equally perplexed at the unfolding situation. I sent her a quick mental message declaring a truce while I investigated the strange phenomenon. Her inner voice agreed to hold off on our bet and she would handle crowd control if things turned south.
I refocused on the weird loopy energy that flowed onto the field, it didn’t behave like any spell I was aware of. A quick mental check of the wards concluded that there wasn’t any breach, so this magic was coming from inside the school grounds. The game continued as I studied the odd currents winding around the players but never making contact with them. Soon the field was engulfed, like an invisible fog that just settled there.
I kept trying to figure out what this unusual spell was for, it didn’t feel like any Warlock or Witches magic. Nor did it act like it originated from any Divine or Infernal source.
My musings were interrupted by a sudden change in the currents. The energy started to focus on the players, breaking apart until each of them had their own little cloud of magic. Alarmed, both my cousin and I activated the protective charms etched into our team’s uniforms.
The clouds kept condensing and rotating until a collar formed around the necks of each player. Small symbols embedded in the collars began to glow with a dark purple radiance. A gurgling from my stomach proved to be a distraction as other people in the stands clutched their bellies in pained expressions. Raising my shirt showed a rash forming on my skin taking the shape of a glyph. A quick glance at my cousin informed me that she was in a similar situation. A simple “Oh Fuck” escaped my lips as a purple tinged darkness enveloped my consciousness.
My body felt heavy as my awareness crept back slowly, I was laying flat but instead of the cold plastic of the stadium I felt grass underneath me. I tried to lift myself up but something heavy laid across my lower back. A deep guttural grunt escaped my lips as I pushed harder off the ground and the weight slid off my back to reveal an unconscious football player. Deep screams echoed around me as the effected people both on and off the field began to awaken. Before a riot could ensue, I used a prepared spell embedded into the ward stones to halt time.
The only other person moving was a behemoth of a man that was quietly checking out his own ass. I approached my cousin in her (now his) new form and he looked up at me.
“Oh, hey Bailey I’ve never swapped into a guy before, any idea how this happened?”
“I don’t know, but if you’d like to help me instead of checking out your new “Assets” I’d appreciate it”
“Fuck You! I didn’t cause this”
“I know that dipshit! I just need your help to figure things out”
“This time spell wont last forever, we only got like 15 min before everything stars up again”
“In my 200 years I’ve never seen a purple spell before. Divine is always Yellow and Infernal is Red”
“Well, what’s neither Divine nor Internal then?”
“You’re like 180 years older than me! Aren’t you supposed to get wiser or some shit like that!”
“Do you at least have any spells that can help?”
“What the actual Fuck! Steph, how are we going to fix this mess?”
“I dunno, I’m a plant and potions witch or warlock now, I’ve only swapped bodies when I get too old and its usually Uncle Max who casts the spell”
“I AM NOT GONNA BRING DAD HERE!!!”
“You know He’s gonna find out” “I’m not the only one with a new body”
This body was already spiking adrenaline, but the thought of summoning my father sent another shot throughout my system. I knew Steph was right, but my dad and I have a “rocky” relationship and I really, really, didn’t want to bring him here. Time was running out though, and the mass chaos that’d erupt when the spell lapsed was way beyond anything either of us could handle. I bowed my head, relenting, as I turned my sight inward focusing on the part of my soul that was radiated golden yellow light. I ensnared it and directed it to summon Him. Outside reality split and a masculine figure in gleaming golden armor stepped forward accompanied by a woman shrouded in red tinted darkness. THAT FUCKER HAD BROUGHT MOM TOO…… FUCK!
They both took a moment to breath in the air of the mortal plane before looking at each other in slightly shocked expressions
They’re voices rippled reality, as I stood in defiance of these inhuman creatures. My cousin had prostrated himself and was seeking supplication before my father. I sighed with indifference as my father spread his wings and solemnly placed his hand on my cousin’s head.
“Dad we don’t have time for your theatrics! Can you and mom help us or not?”
-IT HAS BEEN MANY THOUSAND OF YEARS SINCE WE ECOUNTERED A DJINN-
-THEY ARE EXTREAMLY VOLATILE AND HAVE ALMOST WI-
“We don’t need a long-winded back story; can you guys help us? Time is limited here.”
My cousin’s new face was stuck in shock at the cavalier manner I spoke to my parents. I didn’t much care, any reverence I had dissipated when I found out that I was their little experiment to see if A Servant of Order and A Child of Chaos could procreate.
“Wait what are you two doin”
My eyes refocused just in time to see 200lbs of muscle barreling towards me. My body automatically shifted its weight and sprinted towards the End Zone. “Touch Down Sting Rays!” came a voice over the loudspeaker.
I still miss my old life as Bailey, now I have to live as “super jock” Buck Ainsley. I still have my magic, though it is harder to major in Occult studies with all the constant partying and football my new life demands. I did shock the entire college when Buck came out as gay and started to hang out with the new Bailey and his geeky friends. As to who had made the wish, it really doesn’t matter, my parents spell forced everyone to live as though nothing ever happened with the exception of me and Steph (who landed in the body of a guy named Stephan, Lucky Fucker).
