Is sexual orientation predetermined at birth, or is it just a choice? I mean, conceivably, if someone can be born homosexual, then they can be born heterosexual, sapiosexual, or whatever, right? If you’re hetero/homo/sapio/whatever, and then go a different way, that’s just something that was bound to happen, right? That’s just you “finding yourself”, right? It’s not a choice. So to go even farther with that, someone could also, conceivably, be born a certain religion, right? They could be raised Catholic, but truly be a Hindu? Or they could be a Buddhist, but actually be a Christian? Or a Jew could really be Atheist? And to go much farther with that, someone could, conceivably, be born a certain nationality as well, right? An American could really be Japanese deep down inside? An Englishman could truly be Portuguese? Or an African could actually be Russian? So none of it is a choice. We don’t have a say in who we are and what we identify with. Our lives are just run by predetermination, with no room for growth, change, or independence. Is that really how it is? Are we really going to sit here and tell ourselves that we can, and will, only ever be one thing our whole lives just because it is “meant to be”? Just because we are “born this way”? Are we? And isn’t this just a comfortable lie to cover up the uncomfortable truth? The truth that we DO want to be different, that we CAN be different, but we’re just afraid to change for fear of being outside of our comfort zones? Isn’t it? Why do we do this to ourselves? Why do we do it?
