AvA generic vampire AU, I wrote this on a whim
Alan is a vampire hunter and first took Victim as an apprentice after a loss in his family. He is basically an older teen stuck babysitting Victim so he is pretty negligent, says Vic is a lost cause from how scrawny he is, and then the kid is attacked by a vampire, which Alan kills in time that Victim only gets turned. His remaining family doesn't want him back but also don't want Alan to kill him so Alan let's Vic run off into the woods.
Then with The Chosen One it's different, cause he is in fact chosen. After that experience with Victim, Alan grows guilty, wishing he would've been more careful in protecting a life he and the rest of his family of hunters swore to protect, so he chooses TCO as an apprentice when he finds him orphaned. This time however he is very harsh, very strict and very demanding, the tiniest mistake leads to an hour long lesson. His training for TCO besides instructing him how to use weaponry and teaching him about vampire behaviors is basically just sending him off in the cold night to bring fire wood or other supplies and secretly following him to catch him off guard and chastise him some more on his wrong moves (which are just TCO having his PTSD triggered since a vampire is the whole reason why he's an orphan).
History repeats and TCO inevitably gets turned one night when Alan is actually too tired to do his usual shit so he genuinely sends TCO out into the village to get him some wine before the shop closes and on his way back "home", TCO gets attacked but he wins the fight in the end, vampire blood and his own on his hands. When Alan discovers this, he beats himself about it again but he won't let another kid run off into the forest like a beast, instead he traps TCO in a secured room in the house, TCO's room.
Now, The Dark Lord comes into play as the nephew of a priest, who aspires to teach the boy how to exorcise the dark soul of vampires, which doesn't do much for their physical appearance (any vampire characteristics you may think of all stay), but it helps in overcoming the bloodlust and blood based diet. So Alan talks with the priest about TCO's situation, while TDL sneaks off around the house till he and TCO starting talking through the door.
TDL opens up about how despite his heritage, he can't help but find vampires and all these monsters really cool and says TCO won't be cool for long cause his mentor and his uncle are planning to purge the darkness within him, which the wording scares TCO shitless when he also hears a very detailed description of how it'll probably feel so he begs TDL to help him escape and in exchange TCO will turn him into a vampire.
So the two run away, TDL grows to care for TCO more than just as the cool guy that turned him into a creature of the night, so The Dark Lord swears that for as long as their immortality lasts, they shall conquer whatever wild territory comes their way so that The Chosen One may never feel scared ever again.
Now growing into his late twenties and having lost not only two apprentices but another boy under his watch, Alan shamefully leaves his village, leaving his family to protect it while he goes on a personal journey of his own to atone for his neglect and abuse of the two boys he personally failed. Few years into this journey of traveling, helping wanderers with supernatural encounters and such, one night after he sets up camp he's awoken by the sound of thieves, a group even, maybe five. So he takes a peek out of his tent to find five young teens (judging by their small frames and voices going through puberty) stealing food, one even trying to lick the metal of his hammer while a ginger tried stopping them.
Alan makes his presence known along with his peaceful intentions, relaxing the group into sitting around the fire with him to give them leftovers of his food. Once the five are fed, he realizes that four of the five have vampiric details about them, like canines too long, eyes exposed to be ruby in the flames and pale skin. And yet they are no match for full fledged vampires, their teeth aren't sharp enough, the eyes are actually a deep dark red naturally unlike vampires who have them shining brightly, and their ears are barely pointed at all.
This leads to one conclusion: dhampirs. When asked about these traits, the four freeze and the ginger, most likely an ordinary human like Alan, gets defensive, acting as the others' voice while he tries to get Alan to say that he will kill them or have some horrible plan in mind. But Alan doesn't do that, instead he offers to listen to the story of the five, how the four dhampirs (Red, Green, Blue and Yellow, if you haven't guessed already) were the offsprings of sinful unions between humans and vampires, who were discovered by hunters and hunted along with their monstrous parents, who ordered them to run while the human sides were taken captive. And The Second Coming, now going by Orange, who was once the son of one of the many hunters in that raid RGBY escaped from, and from which he escaped himself when he met the four and finally made friends, having been lonely so long during his training and built up to be the savior of humanity.
Alan hears the whispers and stutters, sees the tears and twitches of the teens around him and swear to protect the five with his life, ready to risk it all for them which they cry in his arms about later that night before awakening in the morning and covering up from the sun as the six continue on their journey of building trust in this family unit of theirs.
Please please please please please don't let this flop. Please please please please please please, I wrote so much omg please at least reblog or give a like, ask me about whichever plot you want to hear more about, please ong.
