{"Your character just found out that mine..."} Rey did her best to keep her face a cautious mask of incomprehension, but her eyes slipped from the dark-haired child to the rumpled pilot, then back again several times before she managed, "Who... who is he?" It was a stupid question - one look at the eyes rimmed in dark lashes, the deep indent of the rosy mouth... She released her knees and squatted, elbow on her thigh, offering a small smile. "I'm Rey, I'm a friend. What's your name?" {noone-rey}

The boy clung to Poe’s leg with his little hands and stood half-hidden by it. He was more bashful than his father had ever been. Poe meanwhile mirrored his son, watching Rey pensively. His lips pulled into a thin line as he tried to gauge her reaction to his tiny bunkmate. Raising a child on base was never Poe’s intention. But ever since his father had in that accident, he couldn’t keep with the the usually lively little boy.
“He’s called Kes,” Poe answered for his child. “He’s a little shy around new people.”
