The idea started to become real!
As the months of my maternity leave rolled by and I talked to more mums, I realised that there was something in my idea. I then started to design my knickers. This was quite a process as at first I had no idea how to create a design or pattern and my sewing skills were from school lessons when I was 14 … a LONG time ago!
Through many iterations and sessions of pottering around in roughly sewn pants while gaining feedback from my husband a pattern for the knickers came together. I started with the boy short design as it is a flattering cut for our mum’s bums. I then worked on a way to make the gusset more absorbent using fabrics that are naturally anti-bacterial and comfortable. Eventually my sewing skills picked up and I had several test pairs of knickers that I could really try out on the realities of the world … and they really worked! Suddenly I could just pull on a pair of knickers as before and get on with my life without any worries of leaks or anyone noticing I had a problem (e.g. in the changing rooms at the swimming pool). No more handling of the stinky used pads either … WOO HOO!
