mia had lived an isolated life for way too long. everything started off so perfect, too perfect, and it drove her into making too many mistakes, too many bad decisions that caused her to lose both her husband and her daughter. ethan had been gone a long time, and all she had to remember him by was his wedding ring, tucked away, buried under trinket after trinket. she couldn’t look at the silver band anymore. not after the tragedy that had occurred in romania.
rosemary, however, was a different story. mia was there for her earlier childhood memories, supported by chris and the rest of the BSAA, but soon enough, things got too difficult. the virus within her started acting up, and she could not shy away from the faint sound of giggling in the back of her mind. eveline did not like that mia had chosen her family over being a bioweapon’s mother, and she started making her regret it by making her lash out. which meant that mia had to be taken away, forced herself out of the house where everything had come to a close, found herself in another suburban town.
perhaps it wasn’t the best idea. perhaps she should have ventured out into the wilderness again, kept humanity safe from what was lurking inside of her … but she reassured herself over and over again that it would be fine. and it had been. for the time being.
upon hearing that knock at the door, mia was confused, to say the least. had her past finally caught up with her and the connections were back to drag her back? or was it one of the brave members of the BSAA, here to tell her something? it didn’t matter what it was though, because mia felt obligated to open the door. just in case.
❝ rosemary? ❞ mia’s voice came out in a whisper, because she would have recognised that jacket anywhere. the hair. the shape of her face. her eyes. it had to be her. mia’s own eyebrows furrowed for only a second, glancing the other up and down. checking. double checking. checking over and over to see if it was really her.
