The downpour was sudden and unexpected. Caius forgot his keys at the gym, didn’t realize until he was halfway home and by then the sky had darkened. He left in a hurry, snagging the umbrella from the office, all the while hoping to make it back home by foot as dry as possible. Thunder boomed with his footfalls as he ran, though he slowed as he saw a woman’s familiar form stuck out in the rain too. Rain pelted against Caius’s umbrella as he approached from behind. Norah’s scent mixed with summer rain was delectable. And stuck out in the otherwise empty street... it all felt fateful.
“You’ll catch a cold out here,” he said, the rumble of his voice downplayed as thunder rolled past. “Luckily I am willing to share,” he added with a shake of the umbrella.
