the funny education is slowly losing its grasp on me so here is north california first christmas hcs <3
Nori didn't know what christmas was before escaping the military, so Callie has to sit down and talk to her about all the traditions and things that go on around christmas time
pov Callie wanted to tell nori that Santa was real but Marie convinced her not to
They try to do as many christmas things as physically possible, likely doing one thing per day leading up to christmas so they can cover more. One day is ice skating, another is gingerbread house building, another is gift shopping, etc.
Nori finds that she likes the cold, meanwhile Callie is always freezing so she clings onto Nori for warmth whenever they're outside
The first time Nori sees snow she's like "... what is falling from the sky? ash? a volcano erupt???" and Callie is like "No silly it's just snowing! Its like frozen rain!"
Callie goes to stick her tongue out to catch a snowflake and Nori is like "Callie! Do not eat sky ash!! It is dangerous for your heath!"
(It will likely take a while until nori finally understands snow...)
Nori buys presents for all her friends <3 of course she gets Marina some tech thing she wanted, Pearl gets a new chain, Marie gets a box set of her favorite book series, and Callie gets literally whatever she wants
If Callie says something like "Oh that's a cute sweater!" when they're in a store, Nori will go back and buy it for her so on christmas she has like 30 presents
where does Nori get her money? the world may never know bc i sure as hell don't
on christmas eve Callie pulls Nori along to an archway that has mistletoe hanging from the top of it and Callie is like "Omg look there's some mistletoe hanging above us..." and Nori is like "that is a plant. not a missile or a toe"
Callie explains the meaning of mistletoe and the tradition of kissing whoever is under it with you and Nori just leans in, kisses her and says, "you can ask for a kiss, the plant does not need to help you."
of course Callie just laughs and kisses her again bc the memory is one she'll remember every year when she sees mistletoe hanging somewhere <3
