If you had to pick the most historic building in London then it would be a toss-up between this place and Westminster Abbey. But I think the White Tower just about edges it because 1) it's older - it was started by William the Conqueror after his Norman Conquest in 1066, and 2) it's been everything from a Royal palace to a prison and a mint. These days they've got an exhibition of arms and armour inside with guns and muskets, pikes and poles, and the actual suit of armour that Henry VIII wore into battle when he was campaining in France.
