Neteyam
• Neteyam is genuinely impressed that you keep trying.
• Like, every single time, you confidently announce that you’re making food, and every single time something somehow goes wrong.
• At first, he tries to help without offending you.
• He’ll quietly stand nearby and offer little suggestions like:
- “Maybe the fire should be smaller?”
• Then he hears you say:
- “I think it’s supposed to look like that.”
• He looks at the completely blackened food.
- “…Yes. Of course.”
• He absolutely eats it anyway if you made it specifically for him.
• He might discreetly scrape off the burnt parts first, but he’ll still eat it.
• Eventually, Neteyam starts hovering around the cooking area because he has realized that your definition of “almost done” means “probably another few minutes until it becomes charcoal.”
- “How long has that been cooking?”
- “Not long.”
- “You said that twenty minutes ago.”
• He’d never make fun of you for it, though.
• If anything, he finds your determination ridiculously endearing.
• He eventually starts teaching you little cooking tricks, but somehow you still manage to burn things.
• His biggest concern isn’t even the food.
• It’s you getting distracted and accidentally letting the fire get too big.
- “You can cook. I’ll handle the fire.”
• And honestly?
• He becomes your designated taste-tester because he knows you’ll keep trying regardless.
Lo’ak
• Lo’ak thinks this is the funniest thing ever.
• The first time you burn something, he’s trying really hard not to laugh.
• The second time? He’s openly laughing.
• The third time, he doesn’t even bother pretending anymore.
- “How did you burn fruit?”
- “I don’t know!”
- “IT WASN’T EVEN COOKING!”
• You threaten to stop making food for him and suddenly he’s apologizing.
- “Wait, wait- no, I didn’t mean it like that!”
• He actually starts sitting beside you while you cook because he finds the whole process entertaining.
• He’ll constantly ask, “Is it supposed to smell like that?”
- “YES.”
- “Are you sure?”
- “…No.”
• He’s absolutely the type to sneak a bite before it’s ready and immediately regret it because it’s either still completely raw or somehow already burnt.
• Despite all the teasing, Lo’ak genuinely appreciates that you keep making food for him.
• If someone else makes fun of you for burning things, though? Suddenly he’s defending you.
- “At least they actually try. You couldn’t even make what they made.”
• He’ll still tease you about it later, obviously.
• Eventually, he starts helping you cook, not because he thinks you’re incapable, but because he wants to make sure you two actually have something edible afterward.
• Somehow, the two of you still occasionally manage to burn dinner together.
Kiri
• Kiri is probably the most patient with you.
• She watches you cook with this amused little smile because she already knows exactly what’s going to happen.
• She notices the smell of burning before you do.
- “The food’s burning.”
- “No, it isn’t.”
- “It is.”
• You look over.
- “…Oh.”
• She’d probably laugh softly and help you salvage whatever can be saved.
• Kiri doesn’t really care whether the food looks perfect.
• She’s much more focused on the fact that you made it yourself.
• If you hand her a slightly burnt meal and nervously ask if it’s okay, she’ll try it without hesitation.
- “It’s good.”
- “Really?”
- “…Parts of it are good.”
• Close enough.
• She’d eventually start helping you figure out what you’re doing wrong, especially with controlling the fire.
• And because Kiri is Kiri, she might casually point out things about the plants you’re cooking with that you didn’t even realize.
- “That one doesn’t need as much heat.”
- “How do you know?”
- “I just do.”
• She’s also the type to gently take the cooking utensil from you when she realizes you’re about to burn something for the fourth time.
- “Let me help.”
• She never makes you feel embarrassed about it.
• In fact, she thinks it’s kind of sweet that you’re so determined to learn.
Tsireya
• Tsireya is so encouraging.
• She’ll watch you cook with the biggest smile, even when it becomes painfully obvious that the meal is going wrong.
- “It smells wonderful!”
• You look at the smoking food.
- “…Does it?”
- “…Well, perhaps not yet.”
• She would absolutely reassure you every time you get frustrated.
- “You are learning. That is what matters.”
• If you get embarrassed because you burned something again, she’ll gently remind you that nobody gets everything right immediately.
• She’d probably offer to cook alongside you so you can learn together.
• And honestly, she’s a very good cooking partner because she doesn’t take over unless you ask her to.
• She’ll let you try, watch carefully, and only step in when she sees you getting overwhelmed.
• If you proudly present her with something that’s only slightly burnt for once, she looks genuinely proud.
- “You did it!”
- “It’s still burnt.”
- “But much less!”
• She celebrates the tiny victories.
• Tsireya would also absolutely eat your food anyway, even if it isn’t perfect, because she knows you put effort into it.
• Eventually, cooking becomes one of those little activities you two do together.
• And somehow, despite all the practice, there’s still occasionally smoke coming from your cooking area.
Ao’nung
• Oh, he is NOT letting you live this down.
• The first time you burn something, he stares at it.
• Then at you. Then back at the food.

- “Yes.”
- “On purpose?”
- “NO.”
• He laughs.
• And unfortunately, that means you’ve created a monster.
• Every time you announce that you’re cooking, Ao’nung immediately asks, “Should I get something else to eat?”
• You threaten him with the cooking utensil (I’m still not sure if they even use utensils when cooking but oh well)
- “I’m joking!”
• He’s absolutely going to dramatically sniff the air whenever he smells smoke.
- “Ah. Dinner is ready.”
- “It’s not funny.”
- “It is a little funny.”
• But underneath all the teasing, he actually admires that you keep trying.
• He’ll eventually start helping you, though he’ll insist that he’s only doing it because he’s “protecting the food.”
- “You’re going to burn it again.”
- “I won’t!”
- “…You already are.”
• He’ll never admit it, but when you finally make something that isn’t burnt, he’s genuinely impressed.
• He takes a bite, pauses, and gives you a little nod.
- “This is actually good.”
• And because compliments from Ao’nung are rare, you know that’s basically the equivalent of a five-star review.
