Normanton Church, Rutland
Originally the plan had been to demolish this church which lay a little too low for the coming flood of Rutland Water, which happened in the 1970s. Thankfully it was rescued, protected by an embankment and now juts out presenting a reminder that below the water here was a whole swathe of Rutland countryside. I like that you can still trace the line of the River Gwash using the parish boundaries on the modern map.
