Sometimes, in a no rose summer, you have to get close to the line. Today, this came in the form of a very light bodied ploussard from Jura. One of the lightest reds I ever had, this Jura is a perfect summer wine. No need for pink.

Couldn’t wait to get home to a glass of wine on this hot day! I’m sweating and so is my Muscadet!

Muscadet, also known as Melon de Bourgogne, is a light, crisp white wine that is a perfect after work answer to a #norosesummer. Some haters say that it can be flavorless, but tonight’s glass is full of apricots, canned pears, melon, and perfume.

Look for “Sevre-et-Maine" and “sur lie" on the bottle at the wine store. This will get you Muscadet from the best region with some extra oomph and body from the aging process.

Some Mucadets, due to sur lie aging, can also pick up a tiny bit of carbonation or fizz. This makes them an even better refreshment at the end of a long summer day. If you are looking for a good food pairing try seafood. Tonight, I’m just sticking with the cool wine.
