brave rooster from the soviet cartoon "hare's hut"
At the end of the war my aunt came home from the front. She had just lost her baby, and she suggested I should be given the milk she was still producing. I was four years old then. Before I went to sleep, my mother used to sing the lullaby ‘The Little Grey Wolf Will Come’. At the end of the corridor was a door leading to the street. And it seemed to me that there, waiting beyond the door, was eternal happiness, light, a talking cat and bread sprinkled with sugar. I did not know then that in reality only our memories can be eternal. That is where everything ends up that you remember all your life. The soldiers who failed to make it back from the war. The tree under your window. The Little Wolf mother used to sing about. And the light at the end of the corridor.

Hedgehog in the Fog, considered by some to be the greatest children's movie ever made. Beautiful.

"A little hedgehog, on the way to visit his friend the bear, gets lost in thick fog, where horses, dogs and even falling leaves take on a terrifying new aspect..."
Hayao Miyazaki cited Hedgehog in the Fog as one of his favorite animated films.
