MY FRIENDS IN SPACE (poem)
MY FRIENDS IN SPACE
My friends have moved
Right off of the map
I’ve looked in three guide books
But they are not there,
The horizon of mystery
Has been overlapped
By a velvet night sky
Of cold Amsterdam air.
The ferry boat cursor
Sails through inky black waves
That reflect all of those pale and faint pulsing stars,
That range in formations
Zodiac
Between waving trees
That the trams do not pass.
The ferryboat lands
Mice and bicycles glide
Like curious moonshuttle,
Ramshackle probes,
Are those Centaur forwards?
In Volewijcker white
And green in the mists
Of former glory boasts?
The bye-ways of space
Are opened out flat
Andromeda street and
Meteor way, Betelgeuse,
Mars, and a Solar square
To the ring of comets
Where my friends now stay.
Contact me by Facebook
Via the Telstar
Or those distant pylons
In Hilversum placed,
Tell me of your home
And your cosmic garden
For you are now known as
My friends in space.

Note: Two of my best friends have moved to the north of Amsterdam, to a district where all the streets have “space names”.
Zaandam and Jan Donkers
Today we went to Zaandam. It was beautiful.
in a couple hours we go to north amsterdam to meet Jan Donkers, Journalist, activist, Pop music specialist extraordinare...
so tonight was pretty amazing. we went to north amsterdam on a joke of a tour but Jan Donkers was so cute and we could barely hear him. he took us to a restaurant for drinks afterwards and when we walked in, written on the wall were the words to the song that me and Lindsay had learned. the professor made us sing the song for Jan Donkers and take a picture with him in front of the words. We sat down and drank by candle light. such a romantic way to end the night. only down sides were i accidentally split a whole bunch of candle wax on the table right in front of the professor and he shook his head at me. also i tripped and almost broke my leg falling over a big stone that came out of no where during our tour.
Oh and our tram on the way home ran into a car so we were stuck on it for a while and when they finally let us off we got to see what it looks like when a slow moving tram runs into a car.
