The Errol Flynn Filmhouse: The Way Cinema Should Be!

As a film enthusiast in a fairly small town it was a frequent occurrence that films I wanted to see didn’t premier at the larger cinema chains and more often than not i missed out on smaller independent British and Foreign films- even some larger scale productions wouldn’t be around long enough to catch.
This however, is no longer a problem as tomorrow, Friday 21st June, marks the opening of The Errol Flynn Filmhouse. With its state of the art sound system and digital projection the experience is unrivalled. The lavish leather reclining seats are like travelling first class, with ample leg room and space between seats the experience is a far cry from the more cramped theatres you’re used to.
'Showing not just the best of the mainstream, but also a great selection of world, British and independent movies including art house, foreign language and documentary films.’
While you're stretching out comfortably you can enjoy one of the Filmhouse’s wonderful range of food and drink. As well as the regular salted popcorn (Olive Oil and Sea-salt) and sugared (Sweet and crisp) they will be hosting flavours of the month. These could include Salted Caramel, Strawberries and Cream, Goats Cheese & Chive and Bloody Mary…
And if your more of a film connoisseur who believes rustling and crunching should be banned, a solution has been found for you- specially designated “rustle free screenings” when the Filmhouse will be a snack-free zone! What a brilliant idea.
If all this talk is making your mouth dry with anticipation you can try some luxury locally sourced beverages from the bar. Drinks, served in glass or crockery, can be enjoyed from your seat (plastic cups are also available). As well as excellent wines, bottled beers, juices and spirits, they stock Warner Edwards Gin (from Northamptonshire),Gallones ice-cream (from Northamptonshire), wine from New Lodge Vineyard (from Northamptonshire) and Fritz Kola soft drinks.

Enjoy your documentaries and classic films? Well you can get that here as well! Documentaries screenings include The Stone Roses: Made Of Stone, Springsteen And I, and Benjamin Britten: Peace And Conflict. Screenings of classic films include the digital re-release of 1963 Hollywood blockbuster Cleopatra starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, and Northampton’s own cult classic Kinky Boots.
Love the theatre but don’t get there enough? Live and recorded stage performances of the Manchester International Festival’s electrifying production of Macbeth (starring Kenneth Branagh) and the Academy Award-wining National Theatre production of The Audience starring Helen Mirren as the Queen head up the star studded theatre line up.
As if all that isn’t enough to tempt you to head along, the filmhouse also plan on doing film maker Q&A sessions, film festivals and themed seasons.
Competitively priced tickets and a fantastic experience- It’s the way films should be enjoyed, in luxurious comfort.
