Sharing a glimpse of my life with you all, only a chapter of my story, Chiari Malformation Type I. I was diagnosed with this incurable brain disorder spring of 2017 and due to the rapid progression of the symptoms and condition, I underwent brain surgery (almost 4h procedure) August 9, 2017 and I have been recovering at a high rate from the first hour out of "skull row" aka the OR. In one photo, you'll see me in my natural tresses that are left from having half of my head shaved for surgery and process thereof last year. The photo on the bottom right is one of a few purple wigs I own because the awareness color is purple and well, not to toot my own horn too much, I have to say I can rock some purple hair! Lol Contrary to popular belief by the minion clan, I am in no way ashamed of my story and because I survived something that tried to kill me, I believe I'm pretty much blessed! Chiari is incurable, it's not something that can be fixed with a pill or even with surgery. But it can be made better symptoms wise by the operation. It's very misunderstood by the medical world. Oh and how do you pronounce it? Key-Ar-ee. September is Chiari Malformation and Hydrocephalus Awareness Month. If anyone has been diagnosed with CM, I would love to highlight you this month and your survival story! 💜🙋🏽♀️ #HiHaters #ChiariDidntKillMe #NorWillYou #GodKeptMe #PoisedAndPurposed #MelovatedMoves #ChiariAwarenessMonth https://www.instagram.com/p/BnPzz5fFaQl/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1iruvh263zd9m
