Bio (10+ sentences, include brief history, personality, potential plots):
As far back as she could remember, Sasha Webster had dreams of becoming one of the world’s most renowned authors. She had a knack for fantasy in her own day-to-day life, her head often in the clouds, so it went without saying that that very same imagination translated beautifully on paper. From the moment she learned how to write, she was unstoppable. Poems, short stories, unnecessarily long essays; you name it, she’d write it. And what with growing on a ranch, surrounded by nature, animals and a loving family, inspiration wasn’t difficult to come by.
Sasha’s father, Hank, encouraged her passion, but to a certain extent. He didn’t think writing was a viable career path, treated it more like a hobby. Besides, he had plans of his own for his only daughter; join the family business and run the ranch along with her four brothers: Malcolm, Theodore, Kurtis and Maxwell. Hank himself had inherited it from his father, which in turn got it from his own father, and so on and so forth. Although Sasha loved living on the ranch and raising the cattle, sheep and horses, this wasn’t the future she had planned for herself, far from it. And it took her father by surprise when, aged 21, Sasha announced she’d be moving to New York City in hopes of pursuing her dream. That decision caused a rift in the family, or at least between Sasha, her father and Maxwell, who had been following closely in his father’s footsteps.
With her heart a little heavy, Sasha still carried through with her big move, and joined by her cousin, Scarlett, she felt like there was nothing she couldn’t take on. She was determined, but she also knew it wasn’t realistic to move to the Big Apple and expect success to fall into her lap. Especially since she hadn’t made any progress on her novel since moving. She and Scarlett still needed money to survive, so Sasha thought of the next best thing. A job that would allow her to write and make a rather good income; a journalist. She applied to a few local newspapers and somehow got retained by the New York Times. Her lack of experience was not playing in her favor, but her excellent writing managed to land her a position as an intern.
Webster climbed her way up the ladder as the years went by and, through hard work and dedication, became one of the Times’ most beloved journalists in as little as four years. Her crime-centered stories gained her critical acclaim; she went above and beyond, where no one else before her had. Up close and personal with various crime families, putting her own life on the line for intel and a juicy scoop, but always narrowly escaped any real danger. Her findings helped bring to justice a few members of the Four Families, one of the biggest crime organizations in New York. On some occasions, Sasha even worked with the NYPD. Needless to say, this success had gone to her head in quite a major way. Writing full time was still the dream, but with a published novel that tanked, her dream had been put on the back burner, while her future as a journalist seemed to only become brighter and brighter with each passing day. Sasha’s overconfidence, though, would ultimately be her downfall.
Dimitri Sokolov, that was a name Sasha would never forget. Head of the Russian Mafia down in Manhattan, subject of her most daring, but also her last ever article. She’d been sneaking up on him and his operation for a couple of months, playing with fire until she got burnt. Her article hadn’t even been printed that Webster found herself framed for a murder she didn’t commit and sent to prison for 15 years on charges of second degree manslaughter. She was 27 at the time. She served 5 years: 5 years during which her entire family put their own lives at risk to publicly campaign in hopes of proving her innocence. 5 years where every single penny they made went into Sasha’s defense. Now aged 32, she’s been released 6 months ago, found innocent beyond a reasonable doubt. She has reason to believe Dimitri is still after her, and so has fled the city and went back home: Greensville.
She goes by her pen name, now. Raven Rivers, and works full time on the family ranch, much to her father’s delight. Even with the Websters’ influence and notoriety in town, she’s been making the best of it, remaining in the shadows until it all blows over. She walks free, but the trauma Dimitri has put her through will be her shackles for the remainder of her days. Now the only thing left to do for her is to ask herself: should she put it all behind her, or try to bring Dimitri to justice for what he’s done?
