🚶🏽♀️ #capturecalgary #helloautumn Another trip round the sun now completed ... Grateful for the road that led me here ... Grateful for the path I am now taking ... __________ "Ideally, a human life should be a constant pilgrimage of discovery. The most exciting discoveries happen at the frontiers. When you come to know something new, you come closer to yourself and to the world. Discovery enlarges and refines your sensibility. When you discover something, you transfigure some of the forsakenness of the world." —John O’Donohue #nosehill #labyrinth #nosehillpark #autumn #fallcolors #fallcolours #calgaryparks #yycparks #parks #naturephotography #naturelovers #dailyhiveyyc #calgaryliving #yyclife #explorecalgary #explorealberta #calgaryalberta #calgary #covidcoping (at Nose Hill Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/CT4mr7HFflG/?utm_medium=tumblr
🛩️ #OperationInspiration #cfsnowbirds #capturecalgary Last year, I watched the first Operation Inspiration flyover in Ottawa. It was right around the time we were beginning to understand that the pandemic was going to last longer than the few weeks we originally thought it would 😟. The dream of what I thought my life in Ottawa would be like was quietly imploding. Then, a few weeks later, Capt. Jennifer Casey would die tragically 💔. Such a bleak time. This year, on a smokey summer afternoon on #NoseHill, I was absolutely delighted to see so many people sitting on lawn chairs waiting for the @cfsnowbirds despite the midday heat & the acrid air. I cannot tell you how glad I am that I made all the sacrifices that I did so I could return to Calgary last summer. With the vaccines, I find myself awkwardly stumbling back into the world hoping that we are on the verge of a post-pandemic new chapter. Perhaps foolishly, I feel hopeful on that front even through I know there are plenty of variants, COVID idiots, Antivaxxers (Um, Tennessee? 🤦🏽♀️ Perhaps, contacting small pox isn't the smartest way to "own the left" 🙄). I don't understand why people are sowilling to turn their bodies into a COVID petri dish for variants & don't seem to care that they are risking all our lives and liberties by doing so 😤. But even this small vestige of hope is marred by our smokey skies & our burning air. Looks like we are in for yet another smokey summer of wildfires. I hope this will be the catalyst for people finally to see the seriousness & danger of the climate change. Maybe we might even elect a government willing to do something about it instead of the ridiculous cowboy cosplay one we currently have with their recklessly propensity for gambling everything on a ridiculous pipedream. It has been quite the year hasn't it? Apparently, the yin & yang of hope & melancholic despair is quite strong in me today 🤷🏽♀️😁. Here's hoping for better days ahead ... _____ "The oak fought the wind and was broken, the willow bent when it must and survived." — Robert Jordan #snowbirds #calgaryparks #calgaryphotographer #calgarybuzz #calgary (at Nose Hill Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/CRVA93DBgD0/?utm_medium=tumblr
