Boy I feel sheepish. The bah news, I’m not back from holiday yet. The good news? I’m not sick anymore... I think. Mostly. Anywho, just one more week and regular updates will return next Monday.

Vacation Holiday!

Thursday will be my last post for a bit. I’m taking a holiday with my other half, halfway across the US.

“Go Trade” pins update - Canceled

So as quick as that got started, it's dead. The "Go Trading" pins idea I shared on here isn't gonna happen. At least not by me.

Life lesson learned? Before pulling the trigger or sign anything I couldn't walk back from, I sought some legal guidance on derivative cases in IP law around products. Basically how "safe" was I.

In this case, given the target audience (easily proven by my posting in a few online communities) and the derivative designs, there's a greater than 90% chance that if I was sued, I'd lose.

And I just can't put my family through something like that.

Thanks for the support, but we shall have to wait/look for something more legit (or at least someone who's a little more brazen with challenging Nintendo and Niantic IP).

Okay, so lot's of positive feedback on the idea of the Pokemon "Go Trade Pins." I put together a little survey (7 questions) to help me figure out how to structure the Kickstarter.

Please share with other players!

Simply put, custom pins are expensive and I've got to structure it just right so as to not risk my own finances. Check out the mock-ups below:

I recall folks wishing there was some way to identify other Pokemon Go players who were up for trading. With PVP on the horizon, it seems like ability to identify fellow players easily would be even more important.

Using all original art (yay Illustrator skills), would people support a simple kickstarter? I was gonna get estimates for buttons, enamel/metal pins, patches, and/or stickers.

Also, while I'm making an effort to avoid using official/trademarked imagery, I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

How to vote for a Dot

Gen 2 Starters are well underway, expect Gen 3 to come up soon! And I’ve been trying to think of how to prioritize what to do after I’m done with the starters- So I figured why not help spread the word of this blog as well? 

How to vote/request a dot. It’s pretty simple-

1) Find a poke-dot you love, then click reblog.

2) When reblogging, include the text: “I wish for a <pokemon name> poke-dot!”

3) Find another dot and repeat! (Check the details below)

Details:

Reblogs must be of “dot” posts. As in, text posts (like this one) don’t count. You get one vote per dot, per day, but can reblog as many different dots you want. 

For example, you can’t reblog the same Charmander dot 50 times in one day and get 50 votes, but you CAN reblog Charmander, Cyndaquil, Dratini, Magearna Pink, Magearna Royal, Delibird, Shuckle, etc, etc... As many different dots as you want in a day, and get that many votes. Make sense? I’ve got over 300 different dots on here. 

I’ll take tally of the requests weekly (possibly daily, depends on how well this experiment works) and post an updated list of the results. This is actually pretty easy to game if you have something you’d like to see me make, just reblog a lot yourself, and get your followers to do the same. It can domino pretty quickly.

From remixes, to fixes, to style adjustments, and at the very least the full roster of Gen 1 and 2. There’s gotta be some of your favorite critters. You can even post a dot you want me to take another stab at. :)
