Little to no research has been done on clients of sex workers, which highights the anti-prostitute mindset that is prevalent in right-wing ideologies, as opposed to pro-sex work mindsets in liberal ideologies, and anti-sex industry/trade in leftist ideologies.
The problem is not sex workers and it never has been; the problems with sex work and any wage labour should be considered together as the basis of anti-capitalism as a whole.
Women in poverty are at a huge disadvantage as options tend to be limited unless willing to take out extensive student loans, rely on a husband, or work part time/minimum wage, and the continuous grooming of young women into becoming sex workers at some point leaves many forced to work in the sex industry.
This is the problem with the phrase "it's her choice": it is not a choice if you have no other choice. In addition, the top paid sex workers tend to be privileged white women who have the resources to stay safe in the industry, such as a home, connections to family with money, and access to a computer and internet access to work online.
