A small fic I wrote rewatching Challenge of the Senior Junior Woodchucks :) It gets dark, so reader’s discretion is advised
ooo
He wasn't right.
Violet had been competing against the red triplet for about 2 hours now, and he was certainly losing his mind. She spotted him a couple of times talking to himself, often referring to the empty space beside him as "the junior woodchuck guidebook". She knew his head wasn't in the right space, and Violet knew that was a dangerous position, especially in a place where their lives were at stake.
She grunted as she climbed the cliff to get to the final obstacle that decided who was going to be the newest Senior Woodchuck.
"Are you coming or not?!" she heard his angry tone. After a brief silence, he continued his 'conversation'. "Fine! I don't need your help! I'm gonna be a Senior Woodchuck!" he claimed, subconsciously looking behind him…
Only to find that Violet had caught up to him.
His eyes widened, and Huey yelped. "Just go!" he shouted, running across an unstable bridge, that happened to be suspended over an active volcano.
Dammit Launchpad—why did he choose an active volcano of all places to compete for something as little as the title, “Senior Woodchuck”?
Violet’s heart clenched with anxiety as she watched him sprint across the broken bridge—once his foot hit one of the rather unstable supports, the wood split underneath his foot. Violet watched in horror as the bridge snapped in half, taking the red triplet down with it.
"HUBERT!" she shrieked, rushing to the now fallen bridge. She gasped with both relief and horror to find that his foot had been caught in some of the rope that supported the faulty bridge, and he hung at least two inches over the bubbling lava.
His eyes were wide. "HELP!"
"I'M COMING!"
She knew that she had to work fast: grabbing a few twigs from a nearby tree, she quickly assembled a makeshift hang glider. It wasn't perfect, but right now, she was focused on rescuing the red triplet from his impending doom. Violet didn't hesitate to leap off of the ledge and into the volcano, trying to get to the oldest triplet. The rope that held foot up was beginning to weaken and loosen due to the intense heat, and Huey's expression was more than terrified. He inched closer towards the lava, headfirst, and he instinctively used his arms to protect his head.
That's when he made contact with the lava.
