Neowise Comet!

Red circle is the comet, blue line is the Big Dipper, green circle is the International Space Station (it’s a line because it was moving much faster than anything else in the picture).

The pictures are all tilted kind of funny because I don’t have a tripod (literally bought this camera 3 hours before I took these pictures) and someone else beat me to the picnic table I was planning to use, so I took off my shoe and shoved my camera in it to keep it stable for the long exposures. The wet sock I ended up with was totally worth it!

Camera: Nikon D3500

Lens: Kit lens (18-55mm)

Settings:

Picture with just the comet: 18mm, f/4.5, 20 seconds, approximately 75 minutes after sunset

Picture with the comet, Big Dipper, and ISS: 22mm, f/4, 25 seconds, approximately 90 minutes after sunset (I know it’s out of focus, but this is like the definition of a once in a lifetime shot, so I had to include it)
