hi! that post you reblogged, the one of "negative character traits" is actually kinda ableist bc "attention seeking, mad (in the cr*zy sense), and unexpressive" are among the ableist traits that're listed as negative, but attention seeking, being unexpressive, unfeeling, paranoid, overly emotional, etc, are all symptoms for multiple disorders & they're not 'negative' traits
Hi! I’m sorry if it made you feel that way. I didn’t look the list over that much, but as a writer who often wants to make each character very flawed, I thought this list would be useful.
I don’t mean this to come out wrong nor offend you in any way possible, but if the traits are not linked to a disorder, then I do believe that they would be considered negative, as they are not necessarily a trait you would want to have. If the traits such as those are associated with a disorder, then they may not be thought of as negative traits.
For example, I am an overly emotional, attention seeking, and paranoid person, and none of these traits of mine are linked with a disorder, and therefore would been seen as negative. I would also say these listed traits as negative. Because I am overly emotional, I get very strong, random bursts of emotions all them time, and I find it very hard to contain them. This would be negative as I cannot, or I find it extremely difficult, to work through strong emotions such as anger or sadness or envy, and is not a necessarily good trait to have. With attention seeking, I do like to be the center of attention, and I get very jealous if someone else is getting a lot of attention, especially if I feel that I should be being praised instead of them. You get the point.
And I’m pretty sure the author meant mad as in angry, or more prone to angry outbursts, not crazy.
Again, I hope I didn’t offend you; if I did you can tell me and I’ll change to post.
