October is almost over and somehow I’m only on Day 5 of #inktober2017 ...Today’s entry for my #notablechicagowomen series is Ann Landers (née Esther Friedman. Even though she was born in Sioux City, IA she was the woman behind the Ask Ann Landers advice in the @chicagosuntimes for 47 years. What’s even crazier is that her twin sister, Pauline Philips was Dear Abby. What are the odds?!
After all the terrifying news earlier today I felt weird drawing just for fun. But working on day 2 of #inktober2017 did help me feel a tiny bit more sane. Especially since I chose to #draw the almighty OOOOOOPRAH WIIIIINFREYYYYY for my #notablechicagowomen series. Even though she was born in Mississippi she built a media empire here in #chicago - #harpostudios anyone? AND according to the extremely trustworthy source #wikipedia , her name is actually Orpah but people kept on pronouncing it wrong so she kept Oprah. Can you imagine being called the wrong name your entire life??? She showed them. And by them I mean us. All of us. Also she loves 🥖!
Almost forgot about #inktober2017 ! It’s my first year finally getting my act together and joining in on the fun so I wanted to do something cohesive. All month I will be #drawing #notablechicagowomen . Kicking it off with Jane Addams, the founder of #hullhouse and the first American woman to win the @nobelpeaceprize
