notaburningbuilding replied to your post:I can’t believe how many people are trying to talk...
Those people don’t know what they’re talking about. Go run if you want to! It’s fun! It’s like dancing but in a linear direction!
Let me tell you, I've had fun, and jogging certainly isn't it. It's a nauseating combination of boredom and fear of being killed by a car (I live in the fricken woods, no street shoulders and cars drive by at 7000 mph).
But, you know. I guess that's the consequence of being completely sedentary for like 10 years, haha. And I gotta do it.
So I feel a bit better today about my decision to drop English (despite my mum having a pretty awful reaction to it). Thanks again to notaburningbuilding for your lovely message of support in reply to my original post about this, I really appreciate it. I think everything has built up for so long and it's just overwhelming at this time in the year. This way I'll be able to focus a lot more on my art work which I think I'd rather do anyway. Also I don't think I could stand studying another Carol Ann Duffy poem after the torture that was 'Small Female Skull'. Anyway, it's time to forget about school until at least next week or something! I hope everyone has a great Christmas and a very happy holidays.
I'm really glad this horrible week is coming to an end. The following lovely ladies' kindness & words of wisdom in response to university crisis no.506 were really helpful and made it so I didn't go completely insane:
My bestie Emma along with notaburningbuilding and jujulikestea - thank you all so much just for being there for me and convincing me I'm not as worthless as I sometimes feel. I've decided to go for Art as my first choice with Art History and Film studies or Art History and English as other options. I'll see how things go as I run the risk of not getting into any of the courses I like, but I feel slightly better now about the direction I'm going in (I think). And I'm off to attempt to work on my art portfolio now //cry cry.
notaburningbuilding replied to your post: The Ice Age by Kirsten Reed
A book?? Of course I want to borrow it!
Sure! I'm just going to hold onto it until the club discussion on/after the 6th (so I can go and see what people are talking about) and then it's all yours.
notaburningbuilding replied to your post: Can anyone recommend good bars in Chicago near...
I recall Slugger’s in Wrigleyville as being good for dancing. Other than that, I’m six kinds of boring, so I don’t really have any more suggestions!
Thanks Devinne :) I think I'm actually going to go with DMK Burger Bar, that way we can get fries if we get hungry. Don't worry, I never go out to bars. It's so much better just to drink cheap wine in my apartment!
notaburningbuilding replied to your post: Forgotten musical treasures?
I’m going through all my albums in alphabetical order, and I just re-finished Elephant by The White Stripes. I’d definitely recommend that one!
Thanks! I'll add White Stripes to the list. I must study up if I'm seeing Jack White in August...
notaburningbuilding replied to your post: fuck ALL the things.
Damn, I’m jealous. I’m just trying to fuck some of the things. Guys, really. Seriously though, I hope everything is ok with you now :-(
Aw, thanks. It will be in about 2 weeks I think. Well, I mean, not everything, but some major stresses will be done. I would be having far fewer panic attacks if not for a 2-second mistake that I didn't directly make (though it's hard to pin it on one person... group projects are the worst) that is really putting the pressure on to pass (yes, just PASS) a class. Ugh, remember senior year of high school when we could have senioritis because we were already accepted into colleges and could get away with not doing any math homework the whole year (well I did anyway)? This year is the opposite of that.
