@notacamper asked for a headcanon.
when sam & max were infants / toddlers, they experienced a phenomenon called cryptophasia, better known as twin speech. since their parents didn’t interact with them any more than they absolutely had to, the twins started speaking sort of late — & before that, they shared an idiosyncratic language that only they could understand. neither of them remember it anymore, since they stopped speaking it once they actually started to learn english, but it’s … a weird thing to remember. ( although, they probably didn’t know it was that strange until later on. )
