I awakened in a chasm where the brittle, frosted air chocked in and out of my shriveled lungs. Enclosed within a tomb, I watched Nature's blooms fawn toward an earth of sands and timeless absence. I sheltered a rose praying to a distant winter sun and searched through the astro plane for a recess from this moment, a truth to obliterate all delusions and bring clarity. Perhaps? Or maybe not, I cannot decide.
"Stammering in the dust, you still stand with some amount of fortitude. Reconstructing a fractured mind that now will not shatter or bend. Your once inspired fantasies recede so curtly in the nearly inscrutable spark in your eyes. Your most enchanted dreams now displaced by hollowed eyes and nightmares. And your aura suggests not pure sadness, but merely indifference. Organic compounds turn to stone. Metal fashioned into the machinations of a calculated mad man. Who are you?"
I pondered the cat Virgil's flattering observation as his whiskers twitched in the snow and his tail flicked away ice, and I responded with a certain ease centered in a conviction I had not lost sight of.
"I am who I always was, just layered with more levels of aging sediment. But upon the last twilight, a light revealed a doorway to a truth concealed in mystery, kept secret, locked behind a closed door. My eyes searched tirelessly for the key and it was in the darkness of delirium that Nature acquiesced to my longing for its illumination. As the door pushed open, a light so blinding pierced my vision and now I can never sleep again. My eyes peer into the night unable to close, nor to unsee what in the end may very well have been far from truth."
I glanced down at the rose cradled in my chest.
"Even so, I might atone for my sins if I can still protect what remains from that which the mind never should endure. To allow Nature to bloom and cultivate resplendent gardens for all to explore and find safe passage through day, night, and the seasons. Even if I can only shelter one rose in this chasm of frost, I'll hold it until it seeds can sprout and spread again. As a guardian of innocence, I'll be an arbiter to good will even as I remain immersed in the shadows."
The feline watched my lips move to some poetic rhythm and my eyes strain to remember a time before the talk of spiritual salvation and discordant psychological events. His glare probed through the pores of my conviction. I spoke out of nobility, but it was one born out of a trauma that remained fresh on my mind. His perceptive eye could see the slightest quivers as they traveled my spine.
"It is true that you are still what you always were, only now you are shaken with fear seeded deep within your bones. You are driven with purpose, but noble as that purpose may be, it is a convenient vehicle for you to flee within. You observe the world with deep understanding of its subtle sciences, but of your own psychology you remain so utterly unaware."
I acknowledged his words, dipping my eyes ever so slightly toward a dark spot in my vision. Virgil followed the path of my vision and continued to say,
"Isn't it time you've awoken from this nightmare?"
hey, yall can go read my fluffy poetry on wattpad.
She was the third
I met a girl when I was six or seven.
We held a spinning contest underwater at a mutual friend's birthday.
We stayed in this pool until cake time.
She has beautiful red tinted blonde hair, and an even more beautiful smile
She taught me it's okay to not always want to go out
She taught me how to stay close with someone so different from myself
We tried to turn Donkey Kong into a live action game
We swear we saw a ghost in her brother's attic
We used to put water balloons in our shirts and act like we were grown up
Now we wish we were small again.
We still play with our dolls, even after we left high school
She taught me about video games and online friends
She taught me that even the shyest girl can turn into a loud and active person, as long as she's in the right company.
I love her.
She is my best friend.
rantings about a dumb blonde with ice blue eyes (1/?)
How can watching someone's hands glide across a page be so beautiful? How can watching someone's math homework be so fun to watch and create a feeling of pride? Just watching someone do the simplest things absolutely melts my heart and makes me want to stop her from her studies and kiss her, take her hands, and put them on my waist.
Damn her left-handed cursive and how it's completely impossible. Her fingers are a bit too long for it to be even possible, and her concentration on her work is mesmerizing. Not one smudge, and the angle of her wrist is just impossible. The font is so small that 20 words can fit on a single line. Her entire body is concentrated on this single paper, and her reward for a finished paragraph, in her eyes, is a few kisses. I'd give anything to see what my name looks like in her beautiful font.
She was the second
I met a girl when I was three, but I don't quite remember that meeting
We grew up with matching coats and crooked smiles,
We dressed up and my mom would take our picture
I'd always wear the blue dress; she'd always wear the black
We had matching hats and heels 5 sizes too big
We can go months without talking, but still be close
She taught me magic exists, and all I need to do is look
She taught me how to accept different forms of life
She is my gateway into another world
She was the second to teach me
The first of many
I met a python when I could barely talk in a place where intoxication was more important than a baby
He ate mice and rabbits and cats
He curled up next to me whenever I was tired, but never tried to eat me.
He wouldn't let anyone get near me except my mother when I was sleeping
He fought his other python friend when she got too close
He taught me appearances don't make a creature
He taught me stigmas and sterotypes weren't always true
He was the first to teach me.
