I was trying to down a preliminary draft for an AU involving Jinx (I actually have a few originals planned for him in the distant future). On this episode of Ripley’s Believe it or Not: Serious Jinx? Could it be?
Nah, it’s just been a long, long time since I’ve actually gotten down and dirty with his character voice. Even through a veil of self-loathing I can say that he’s gone through a lot of development; I’ve known that bastard as a fictitious entity longer than I’ve known you as a, well, person, so I feel content in saying he comes pretty naturally to me, as does the sort of environment that normally follows suit.
There’s hope! He’s not just an assembly of awful angles and levity. I think. Maybe.
But, anyway, I’d been chomping away at it for a few hours, but when I skimmed over it to see if I was satisfied I just stared for a while because oh.
Every vaguely serious thing Jinx touches turns into a fucking noir.
As it turns out, I am satisfied. It’s upsetting.
