Hometown Impression
I was born in Detroit, Michigan also known as Motor City. According to Wikipedia.com, Detroit is the largest city in Michigan. It was founded on July 24, 1701 by a French Explorer, Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac.
Detroit has such a bad reputation that it don't make any since. Another nickname we have is Murder Capital. All you hear about are the bad things that happen in Detroit on the news, but never the good things. This is why so many people are scared to come to Detroit.
Downtown Detroit is nice. In the winter time, there's a skate rink everyone goes to and have a great time. There's hotels, and movie theaters. Nice restaurants to eat at. There's a section called Hart Plaza where they have so many festivals.
Detroit also has Comerica Park, Home of the Detroit Tigers, which is ranked as number 5 of the main attractions of Detroit. Every Tigers game has the whole downtown packed and crowded. It's a great event to attend if you're into sports.
For teens, we have clubs. If you're not into that, we also have the Detroit Riverwalk. It's where all the young adults gather up to have a good time. We have so many nice things in Detroit. However, with the upcoming generations, they don't know how to appreciate it.
I love my city. I'm not saying it's perfect at all. Nowhere near. Nor am I proud of the route my city is going. However, my generation is a part of the reason why Detroit is the way it is now.
So many people from Detroit, Michigan are famous. Painters, Singers, Actors, Musicians, etc. So many more people are becoming something as we speak that are originally from Detroit and I love it. But even with those who are successful that are representing where they came from can’t change the opinions of someone who speaks negativally of the city. I just believe that if people actually spent a day of two in Detroit, on a nice sunny day, they’d see that it’s not as bad as others claim
