The fairytale wedding looks a lot different these days. From intimate destination gatherings to grand affairs on palatial grounds, every couple’s dream wedding day looks different. Some parents are going hard in the paint to give their children the wedding to remember, while some couples are self-funding their eclectic nuptials. Over 17 years ago my husband and I got married before 28 guests and the only one in the bridal party was our daughter Ariel (my husband’s daughter from a previous marriage). She was all I needed. The very fact that she wanted to be in the wedding was such a blessing as a new step-mom, that the thought of having a large bridal party vanished. Plus, all of our friends and family were able to sit and enjoy the ceremony. I still get so tickled every time I see her peeking out behind her dad at the camera man. Couples are now taking their time getting married, but are actually staying together longer according to recent statistics. So we say, take your time, make it last and do it your way.
