“No, no, no, no, NO!”
A misguided stretch turned into frantic wobbling. Peridot tried to stay as still as possible but the damage had been done. There was an almighty crash.
Peridot froze. Someone had to have heard that.
notbuiltforfighting continued from here
“Pearl, I... I know I have to protect myself in order to protect Connie. Please... I just want to be able to fight by her side. I may not seem like it now, but when I’m older, I... I may be fighting more gems more often. And I don’t want Connie to be hurt just because she’s fighting with me.”

Garnet took no time making her way to Steven’s couch after she arrived home from her solo mission. In a moment of after thought, once the mission was done... She probably should have brought someone with her. She had all but worn herself to the bone, wincing when she took the first step off the teleporter.
With a low grumble she let her visor vanish, falling front first onto the couch. Her body was a wreck, sore muscles and a pounding head were all she could focus on and feel right now.

“Leave me here! Go! Hurry! I can handle it.”
“I am NOT leaving you here alone! Not anymore!”
Garnet shouted as she took her spot next to Pearl, gauntlets at the ready.

Send me a crystal and I’ll tell...Amazonite: what kind of situations call for my muse to be dishonest
1. When she’s trying to protect Steven. She doesn’t want to tell him bad things about the Crystal Gems, so she’ll often lie by omission, or say that it’s nothing, or otherwise avoid the subject. She won’t outright lie to him though. In the past, though, if she and the other Crystal Gems were going on dangerous missions, she would always tell him otherwise so he wouldn’t worry.
2. This was pretty frustrating for Rose at times: “What’s wrong, Pearl?” “Nothing.” She was reluctant to talk about what was bothering her when she was feeling insecure, in part because she knew it hurt Rose when she spoke badly of herself. Also, in the first few decades after the Gem War, she would hide it from Rose whenever she was fixating on or otherwise having intrusive thoughts/memories about the war, because she knew Rose felt a lot of guilt and pain relating to it as well. Eventually it did come to light though, and when she ended up admitting to Rose that she had been hiding such things for so long, Rose was (surprisingly) able to get through to her, telling her that even though it was a painful subject for both of them, she would feel even worse for Pearl to go through that alone. After that, she was more honest about the matter.
3. Covering her own weaknesses, sometimes. Again, this is mainly by omission, e.g. “Can you shapeshift too?” “...All gems have the ability to shapeshift. -demonstrates only with holograms and leaves Amethyst to teach him alone even though she clearly does not trust her to do so-”
4. When she’s also lying to herself, or trying to convince herself of something. E.g., “We probably could have gotten in without hurdling a giant rock into Rose’s most precious sanctuary... but if you’re okay with it, I’m fine too!” and “I’m telling you for your own good, and not because I’m... -scoffs, blushing-” However, unlike the other things here, that’s not intentional.
