Baby Maybe | Chatzy
After the results of the test taken with Thomas, Cristine invites Munro over to share the bad news with him.
Cristine paced back and forth through her apartment, waiting for Munro to show up. After being left alone for most of the day, Cris had nearly talked herself out of ever telling him the truth, though she knew that if she didn't, Thomas would. The longer she waited, the worse she felt; there was no way she could sit through dinner with her parents
Munro: He would be lying if he said he wasn't a little terrified as to why Cris wanted him to come over tonight. Normally he loved going to her place, but she had sounded so serious when she asked him to come over and after what they had talked about the other day... Arriving outside of her door, Munro knocked softly.
Cristine stopped her pacing, hearing Munro at the door and swallowed hard. She wasn't ready for this but she had to, it was only fair. As she opened up the door, she took a step back, letting him inside without so much as a 'hey.' "Um, thanks for coming," she whispered, her voice caught in her throat.
Munro: "No problem," He said awkwardly, rocking back and forth on his heels slightly. "So what's up?" Munro stuffed his hands into his pockets.
Cristine stared down at her feet, unsure of how to say it. "Thomas made me take a pregnancy test and-" she couldn't finish the rest, Cris broke down in tears, bringing her head to her hands.
Munro: Munro's eyes widened as Cristine burst into tears in front of him. He hated nothing more than when a girl cried. "Cris..." He said hesitantly. "It's going to be okay. Maybe... maybe the test was wrong. Did you take another or maybe we should take you to the doctors?" His voice started to take on a slight hint of panic but he tried to push it down for her sake.
Cristine backed up into the couch, sitting with her head in her hands. "No its not!" she sobbed, finding it hard to be positive. It hadn't occurred to her that it could be wrong, Cris and Thomas only took one test. "N-No, I haven't."
Munro: "We then maybe we should do that..." He trailed off not really knowing what to do in this situation. He always figured that when he had kids it would be with his future wife and planned for that matter.
Cristine nodded and glanced up for a moment, motioning towards the bathroom. "I um, Ithink Thomas left the box in the bathroom, I don't remember."
Munro: "Okay... Well, I guess I can just wait outside the door?" He felt a little bad for praying that it would be negative.
Cristine sighed and walked off towards the bathroom alone, taking the test in silence. Once she was done, she set the stick on the counter, sliding down and leaning her back against the bathtub. The scene seemed eerily familiar only Thomas had waited with her and now she was essentially alone.
Munro: leaned against the door frame not really sure what he should be doing. He wasn't always the best at handling stress and the longer he waited the more restless he got.
Cristine waited for what felt like five minutes and pulled her head from her knees, wiping her eyes as best as she could. She felt sick to her stomach, even Munro hadn't wanted to be near her. When she saw the results, she squinted at the pregnancy test, unsure of what she was reading. How could one say she was pregnant and the other did not? In a huff, Cris walked out of the bathroom, dropping the test next to where Munro stood and sat on the couch, confused by all of this.
Munro: Glancing down at the test Munro tried to understand what it meant. "What should we do now?" He asked following her over to the couch.
Cristine looked up at Munro, shrugging her shoulders. "You're off the hook, at least."
Munro: "And so are you..." He furrowed his eyebrows. "Unless you wanted a baby?" Munro couldn't imagine that she did but for some reason she seemed upset.
Cristine glared at Munro for even thinking that. "No, are you kidding me?" Pulling her knees to her chest, Cris tried to do her best to keep from crying. "It's just...this is the hardest thing I've ever had to go through and I don't even feel like you're here. You might as well not be around, Munro."
Munro: "And it hasn't been hard for me? My heart has been beating three times its normal speed since you asked me to come over." He crossed his arms over his chest. "I'm sorry that I'm not behaving to your liking. I can't read minds, Cris, I don't always know what the right thing to do or say is." It seemed like everything he did was wrong to her lately. "I've never been in a situation like this before. I was just trying to keep from doing something to upset you farther, but obviously I failed." His head was a mess right now and his heart still hadn't stopped beating fast.
Cristine began crying; she was a mess of emotions from all of this. "I just wanted you to hold me and tell me that everything is gonna be okay," she said, sobbing uncontrollably. If the second test was to believed, Cris wasn't pregnant and there was something much worse going on.
Munro: "I tried telling you everything was going to be okay and you just started crying harder." He said confused. "I don't always know what you want... especially in delicate situations like these." He scooted a little closer.
Cristine knew she wasn't always the easiest person to deal with, especially lately. She couldn't for the life of her understand why she had been so overemotional as of late if she wasn't pregnant - perhaps it was the stress of it all. Laying her head into his lap, Cristine cried into Munro's shirt, hoping he didn't mind that she was ruining it with her tears. "I'm sorry Munro," she sobbed, "I don't know what's wrong with me. I'm not okay though, whatever this is, I'm not okay."
Munro: "Don't be sorry." He attempted to soothe her. "You haven't done anything wrong." Munro ran his hand slowly up and down her back hoping to try and calm her down and get her to stop crying. "I think that going to the doctor's is a pretty good idea." The only way she could find out what was wrong is if she got checked out.
Cristine tried her best to calm down, Munro's touch seemed to be doing the effect. "I'm not an easy girlfriend to have," she mumbled, turning over so that she could look at him. "I'm sorry, even though you don't want me to be. I always say I'm going to be a better girlfriend and I do this again." With a sigh, Cris sat up and wrapped her arms around his shoulders. "I know this wasn't easy for you either. I hope this test was right. I didn't want to ruin your career, Munro. I was so worried that this would ruin everything. But um, I'll try and get to a doctor in the morning and find out for sure what's going on. Could you come with me?"
Munro: "Cris, everyone gets upset every once in awhile." He sighed holding her close. "And in this situation you have every right to be." If his head was a mess he couldn't imagine what was going on in hers. "Even if you were pregnant you wouldn't be ruining anything. People have careers and babies... We would get through it together." As much as he didn't want a baby right now he knew that they could do it if they had to. "I'll be there if you want me to."
Cristine nodded. He was right but it didn't make her feel any better. He deserved so much better than how she treated him at times. "You're too good for me, Munro. I'm glad you don't realize that just yet." Cris snuggled against his chest, sighing deeply. Her tears had stopped and now all she had to do was work on calming down. "We would? You'd be okay with that?" Knowing that he would be by her side put her worries at ease and she breathed a sigh of relief. "I want you to, I need you to."
Munro: "I'll be there then." He smiled softly at her before kissing the top of her head. "I'm sure everything's going to be okay."
Cristine gave his hand a squeeze and nodded, hoping he was right. "Yeah, I'm sure they will. If its not a baby, I can handle it. And if it is, we'll handle it."
Munro: "I'm going to be by your side regardless if it's a baby or not." He was hoping that it was just some kind of weird bug, but no matter what it was he was going to help her through it.
Cristine brought his hand to her lips, pressing a soft kiss against his knuckles and smiled at him. Its times like these when Munro was around to calm her fears that she felt so strongly about him. Leaning towards him, Cris left a few kisses along his neck, making her way to his lips before pulling away. "I love you, Munro. And I don't care if you love me back, I mean, I know you don't, but it doesn't matter. You make me happy, and I don't need you to love me back to feel the way I feel. I just wanted you to know that."
Munro: "Cris, I do love you... It's just..." He trailed off not knowing how to tell her he just wasn't in love with her. They had only been dating two months and it didn't mean that he would never fall in love with her. Things like that just took time for him. "I love being with you and I wouldn't want to be with anyone else." Munro told her trying to get Cristine to understand how he felt.
Cristine nodded, understanding him completely. "I know, Munro. Like I said, it doesn't matter to me that you don't feel the same, I just wanted you to know how /I/ felt." In the short amount of time, he had already surpassed all of her exes in how happy they made her. Even with their ups and downs, she had never felt so strongly about anyone.
Munro: Munro was extremely relived that she wasn't angry at him for not saying it back. Most girls would have been. That's what he liked about Cris, she was different than everybody else.
Cristine kissed Munro once more and stood up, walking over towards the kitchen. "Should we attempt to salvage what's left of our night? I have brownies and ice cream for you."
Munro: "That sounds amazing." He grinned at her walking towards the kitchen. "Brownies cure everything."
Cristine giggled, nodding at his sentiment. "That's what I was thinking." She grabbed a few of the brownies that were on a serving platter and put them into a bowl before popping them into a microwave for a few seconds. "Grab the ice cream, babe?"
Munro: "Sure." He nodded opening up the freezer. "Here you go, m'lady." Munro set the ice cream down on the counter next to her.
Cristine kissed his cheek and scooped some of the ice cream onto the warm brownies, handing him a spoon afterwards. "So if I'm not pregnant, we really need to invest in some condoms, Munro," she started, taking a bite of the ice cream and brownie mixture.
Munro: Munro snorted a little at her words. "Obviously." Swallowing the bite in his mouth, he moaned a little at the taste. "I still can't believe that neither of us thought about it."
Cristine grinned widely and sat on the counter, eating more of the concoction. "Well, whenever you start kissing me like that, I don't really think about what I'm doing, I just want you inside of me." Cris' cheeks turned bright pink at how graphic she was being and hid it behind her bowl.
Munro: "Nice to know I have such power over you sexually." He joked poking her thigh with the end of his spoon. The truth was he also lost all coherent thoughts when she started kissing him.
Cristine blushed even harder, knowing he was right. The thought of what his kisses did to her left her wanting more but after what they had just gone through, it was best if they slowed things down a bit for a while. "Hey, mister, you're just as bad!" she teased.
Munro: "Yeah, yeah, I know." He laughed. "We both have to be smarter about that stuff though... Even when we're extremely horny." Munro winked at her playfully.
Cristine reached for Munro, tugging onto his sleeve and pulled him closer. "Just stop being so good at sex," she murmured, kissing him lightly on the lips. "I'll make an appointment with my other doctor, see about getting on the pill or something. No accidents."
Munro: "Not possible." He smiled against her mouth. Cristine's words were doing wonders for his ego. "That would be very smart of you."
Cristine panted softly, their kisses growing more heated. "We should slow things down, right?" she suggested, though her body wasn't in sync with her words, it seemed, "not have sex so much."
Munro: "Right," He agreed trying not to pout. "At least until we know what's going on with you." Moving away from her slightly, Munro leaned against the counter next to her. He scooped up some more ice cream on his spoon before licking it off.
Cristine sighed, frowning into her ice cream and shoveled another spoonful into her mouth. "It's probably nothing major, at least I can't think of what it would be." Shrugging, Cris hopped off of the counter and put her bowl in the sink, rinsing it off for a moment.
Munro: "It just worries me because you've been sick for so long." He sighed setting his now empty bowl into the sink. "Most bugs would have gone away by now, wouldn't they have?"
Cristine nodded, that had been bothering her too, but she wasn't sure what it could be. "Maybe I'm allergic to something I've been eating?" she offered. The later it got, the more tired Cris found herself getting. "You should just start bringing clothes with you, Munro, I ask you to stay over way too much."
Munro: "The fried pickles probably. Yuck!" He teased her. "Eh, I don't mind doing the walk of shame. Your neighbors probably think we're quite scandalous though."
Cristine giggled at how silly he was and shook her head. "You're not gonna shower before the doctor tomorrow?"
Munro: "I can get up early, go home, shower, change, and come back." Munro suggested with a shrug of his shoulders.
Cristine "Okay, that works," she said with a nod and wrapped her arms around his neck. "So, carry me to bed?"
Munro: "As you wish." Hooking his arms under her knees, Munro lifted her bridal style and carried her into her room. Dropping her onto the bed he grinned. "There you go, princess Prosperi."
Cristine giggled madly and wrapped her arms around Munro's neck, pulling him into bed with her. "Why, thank you, Prince Chambers." She kissed him lightly before starting to pull off her clothes, getting ready for bed.
Munro: "Anytime." Taking her lead, Munro pulled his t-shirt over his head and undid the button on his jeans. Tossing them both to the side he relaxed on her bed in just his boxers.
Cristine snuggled against Munro's half naked form, tracing circles into his bare chest. "Valentine's Day is coming soon," she mentioned. Cris had been working on finding the most perfect gift for Munro, she just wasn't sure if he had plans for the two of them just yet.
Munro: "It is isn't it?" Honestly he hadn't really thought about it. He hardly ever did anything on Valentine's day, having been single for most of them.
Cristine nodded, lacing her free hand through his. "Mhm. I just didn't know if you had anything planned. I um, I just needed to know if we were staying in the city or not." Munro seemed to be on a vacation kick lately, not that she minded, but she had to be sure his gift could come with them.
Munro: scratched the top of his head a little embarrassed. "Honestly I kind of forgot it was coming up. I've never celebrated it before... Other than in grade school when everyone passed valentines out." He started to slowly run his fingers up and down her back. "We can stay here or we can go up to my parent's cabin again for the week, if you'd like."
Cristine "Oh." Crisp frowned, realizing she may have put too much thought into his gift than necessary. She didn't want to put any pressure on him and make him think he had to get her something extravagant. "That's okay. We don't have to go anywhere, we can just have like, a romantic night in."
Munro: "If that's what you want... I'll do what ever it is that you want." He told her trying to think of what he could do to make it special.
Cristine nodded, only because she wanted him to be able to enjoy his gift. "We don't have to do anything, Mun, as long as I'm with you."
Munro: "Okay." He smiled kissing the top of her head. "We'll have a nice sweet night in."
Cristine wrapped her arms around his body, resting her head on his chest. "Sounds perfect to me, Mun." With a yawn, Cris closed her eyes, ready for a night of sleep.
Munro: "me too." He kissed her again. "Night, Cris." Munro said before pulling her a little closer and closing his eyes.
