A while back one of you told me that you wanted to see more of what was in my notebooks that I use for making notes and plans for writing. I tohught of it today because I'm moving on from the last one to a new one today and I flipped through it before putting it on the completed shelf. Sometimes it's a lot of thoughtful little details, and sometimes it's a cold, bullet list of facts about something very emotional that helps me stay on track when I'm getting lost in writing something big.
A set of guidlines helps get me back on track if I catch myself wondering what the fuck comes next. Helpful for me when there's not a lot of dialogue or action and I have to get into someone's feels. I'm sure it has a formal name, but I always refer to it as "in brain time" in my notes as a catch all, and I find that takes so much more work than having characters chat for hours or run around and do stuff. I usually make myself a little scene outline by hand in a notebook to keep on the desk while I type.
In honor of this week's Sexy Question Of The Week, I snapped this one for you, Notebook Fan:
If you can't read my handwriting, you are in the majority, and it says:
"Reasons Why The Slopes Sex Is So Good:
They've been waiting a really really long time to have it.
They're both good at fucking, and both strong athletes.
Their communication skills and innate understanding of one another is top notch. The tiniest thing the other does tells them so much.
They are totally in love with each other.
They're seldom alone, and alone at a big party is a specific type of alone.
Clarke has tons of sexy make up on and looks different than she usually does. There's that element to it.
It's something new to both of them.
There are no sports bras and ski socks and layers, they're totally bare which is RARE."
Some of them are more profound than others, Notebook Fan. This is pretty typical of what a lot of it is. Me making lists with myself about what the hell is happening so I can look back and keep my pace up!
