I’ve always struggled with celebrating the 4th of July because of the cruel irony of its history as it relates to slavery and oppression of women’s rights, but THIS 4th is FAR crueler than ever. It is the extension of HATE and entitlement. Tanks are going to be in D.C. as women and children are held captive in detention camps - prisons for being brown and poor. These “Sherman Tanks” are triggers - cell memory reminders - for veterans of war at home and afar (men and women) who died/fought to defend our democracy and keep us free, for our newest/oldest citizens who fled their violent, dictatorship countries for freedom and hope, for the hate mongers and racial/aryan groups who now see permission to come back out from the dark and charge into the light with renewed covering and space, for the “we shall overcomers” who opened the Pandora’s box. Police Brutality is NOT new. THIS faux leader who envies cruel and heinous men - who wants to be them - will today lead America into the truth of its existence for all the world to glare at and declare, “She lied!
