            CALLIE HATED ANNIVERSARIES. WITH A PASSION. she hated knowing what they actually meant and stood for. today was actually her anniversary for living with the Adams-Foster family and it honestly made her feel many things. sure, there’d been a lot of ups and downs during that time, but she’d never been somewhere so loving for that long. and she’d never been so wanted to what Lena and Stef seem to want her, for many reasons she’ll never know. Letting out a soft sigh, Callie leaned on her elbow as she stared out the window, seemingly lost in her thoughts. Seeing movement out of the corner of her eye, Callie jumped “LENA? WHAT’RE YOU DOING UP? ARE YOU OKAY?”.

         ❛lila... ❜ there was so much she wanted to say, about how she shouldn't have gotten involved with a married woman in the first place, how she should have gotten to know the other woman better before engaging in an illicit affair or in any kind of relationship with her. it wasn't her place, however. lila wasn't her sister, she was just an acquaintance ---perhaps, a  prospective friend... but not yet. alex was cautious, she had learned not to trust people too soon. ❛ it's hard to figure out people's intentions. just... be careful, you don't want to get tangled up with someone like her again and you definitely don't want her back in your life. ❜

          Judy didn’t say a word, just nodded her agreement to the statement. This was probably one of the least hostile moments they had shared, other than when Ana had brought her art back to her, and Judy didn’t want to ruin the moment.

          “What you do, though,” she finally broke the long silence after she landed on a thought she figured would be safe to say aloud. “I can’t even imagine some of the things you’ve probably seen.” She was doing her best not to give her too sympathetic a look. Ana didn’t seem like the type who took well to receiving sympathy, though Judy couldn’t be sure. Still she resorted to staring down toward her hands instead of rocking the boat. She didn’t know why, but she truly did like Ana, she just didn’t fully know how to interact with her in a way that wouldn’t set her off. There were so many subjects that seemed too risky to bring up. It felt easier to let Ana lead, or end, the conversation as she saw fit.

  the way she felt about monte was indescribable,  she never wanted to feel anything for her except friendship and yet she fell deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole.   her marriage had been ripping apart at the seams and with the addition of tess coming back into their life,   monte was who she went to,  who she wanted to see when nothing felt right.   ❛  neither did i,  i wasn't supposed to feel this way about you,  you have no idea how hard i tried not to. ❜   tears sting at her eyes as she looks at her,  lena never thought that she could become so consumed in someone to the point she was with the other woman,  and she never wanted it to stop.

   there's nothing that ever makes her speechless,  and this wouldn't have if she didn't see the serious expression on the other woman's face.  half the time the flirting was all just a tease,  she knew penelope was straight and couldn't hold out hope for too long but now that she was there,  all that teasing seemed to be worth it.   ❛  what made you finally change your mind,  baby?  couldn’t stand the thought of me waking up with someone else?  ❜  there's a smirk on her lips as she leans against the doorframe and an eyebrow raises,  the confidence coming back to the surface,  she was right all this time and she would never let anyone else forget it.

          “Hey... You’re too young to be putting this much pressure on yourself.” Her voice was gentle but was filled with conviction. She was forced to grow up so fast when she was around Izzy’s age. It broke her heart to see such a bright and powerful girl losing a grip on her childhood. “Trust me, as the reigning queen of ‘i can’t do anything right,’ you’re doing just fine.” A small sigh escaped her lips and she shrugged. “Plus, you’re an artist. Some of your best work is going to come from some of these things you’re feeling. You’ve just gotta learn to express how you’re feeling through your art. It’s actually very cathartic,” she added and she offered her a small smile.

          “But if none of that works and you need someone to hear you out you can always come talk to me, okay?”

          “You’re absolutely right, honey, I did promise you. Things didn’t work out the way I planned,” she began and she did what she usually did when she was trying to get through to Lexi, she knelt to get on her level. She felt awful. It’d been a small thing but she knew that didn’t matter. There wasn’t much of a big or small as far as Lexi was concerned. She was a kid, and all she knew was that Judy had promised her something and then not followed through. “I had to work later than I expected and they’re closed now. I’m sorry sweetheart. I’m sorry.” She hoped this didn’t put too big a dent into their relationship. She was terrified of that.

          “I hope you’ll trust me to make it up to you though.” She wanted to promise she was going to but she was nervous to use that phrase again so soon. She wanted to give her time, to let her see that she wasn’t the type to not follow through on her word.

          “God, no. No. Of course not.” Even before she’d gotten to know Jen this had never been a joke to her. She wanted to help, it was the only thing she could think of to assuage her horribly guilty conscience. She couldn’t just sit idly by and do nothing when she had done such a terrible thing to her and her family. But now that Jen had become such a huge presence in her life? She would never do anything to jeopardize that. She’d sooner die than put that friendship on the line. “Jen please.” She knew she probably sounded pathetic but she couldn’t bring herself to care. “You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

          True story. She had led a pretty shitty life up until Jen. Even with Steve things had been rough (though she often looked past all of that in favor of remembering the good times). But Jen had changed her life for the better. Despite how their friendship had begun.
