Sunday Snippet
Thank you for tagging me @bluecolouredlou. Here's my snippet from a long term project that I am quite fond of but that is nowhere near finished.
Alone. Completely and utterly alone. The first thing she did was turn on every single light in her flat. The big overhead lights, the lights over the hob, all the decorative lamps placed in strategic places to make the room appear in as cosy a light as possible. She even turned on all the fairy lights scattered throughout nearly every room. That made her feel a bit better. Then she checked all the locks on the windows and the control for the lift. She closed the curtains.
Only then did she feel save enough to take her clothes off to take a shower. She went to the en-suite bathroom of her bedroom and put her clothes in the dirty laundry basket. For a moment she considered just throwing them away. She never wanted to look at anything that would remind her of today or yesterday again. But she knew she’d have to. So she just threw them in the basket and closed the lid. Out of sight out of mind.
