At this point of time, you might find yourself overwhelmed by politics—the advertisements, the polls, the news coverage. Philippines is a country where elections are characterized by personality politics, campaign jingles, and snappy TV advertisements, issue-based discussions are often the first casualties. Being a part of a democratic country it is not only a right but a responsibility to elect the right set of people to administer the functioning of the country. The voters are required, especially during the campaign season, is to cut through the brawl and make the elections all about pressing issues facing the nation, not the personalities vying for public seats.
You spend time heading to the polls, lining up, and filling up the ballot. Given the amount of time you ultimately have to spend on the process, you might as well make sure that your vote is not wasted. This upcoming election the choice is very simple, it is to vote for candidates who are honest, dedicated and who are capable enough to do the right thing, what is good for the development and advancement of the both of the nation’s and the people’s welfare. And first things first you should try to ask yourself if you are happy the way things are, or do you long for a better life? If you choose the latter, you need to make sure that you vote the right candidates. Set your expectations, know what you are looking for, look beyond personality, learn about the candidate’s platform and consider their credentials and credibility. Vote wisely, it is your right to exercise your vote.
