“There’s not much to get,” Niall assures him, smiling as he passes the peppers.

Louis wishes that were true, that Niall was really that simple. To Louis, he’s a puzzle- not one of those one hundred or five hundred piece ones. No, Niall is a one thousand piece puzzle, and no matter how many pieces Louis connects: there’s always more. He’s intriguing and exciting and ridiculous but he makes Louis’ stomach roll in pleasant waves as he listens to him talk. And that’s something.

It’s more than something, and Louis is glad that he asked for a redo.

There were loads of emotions showing on his face, but from them all, the disapproval was probably the clearest. “You said my advice was rubbish and now you’re going to do that?” Zayn asked, offended.

Sunday Snippet

It's been literally months since @sun-tomato tagged me in Sunday snippet but... better late than never? A bit of a forthcoming Nouis fic, maybe for the Louis rarepair fest...

“When was the last time you changed these sheets?” Louis asks, holding the very edge of the duvet cover gingerly between his index finger and thumb. “You’re the one who’s supposed to be on top of this stuff. If I’m calling you out, you’ve got issues.”

Niall mumbles something indistinguishable into the pillow. Louis grimaces, drops the duvet, and drags him up a little by the hood of his sweatshirt. “One more time in English?”

“They smell like her,” he says miserably, and Louis’ heart kicks a little in his chest. Damn Chelsea to hell and back. Taking a decent guy like his Nialler and breaking him. People are meant to be careful with his Nialler.

He leans over and gives the bed a curious sniff. “They don’t, love,” he says, patting the back of Niall’s head where his hair is stiff with grease. “They smell like sweat and tears. And a bit like mustard.”

“I had a ham sandwich,” Niall moans.

“Did you eat it or sleep in it?”
