Tell me about some inspirations for you original works, whether those be conscious "I need something like this in my story" inspirations, or ones where you've realised later, "Oh this probably influenced my stuff now that I think about it".

I love to hear about what things inspire others.

Sorry for taking so long to respond! This is such a good ask and I want to talk about all my wips, but I'll just pick one.

Nova Futurum was inspired by many things. Directly, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Ghost in the Shell, and mechas like from Neon Genesis Evangelion. After some thought, some stuff from Blade Runner 2049, Akira, and Minority Report (2002). There is also this y2k Digimon movie that is so fucking cool that I love and it really inspired me from a young age. Like it might not have been amazing but I still liked it and it influenced me so idgaf.

It's also directly inspired by a different one of my works which is an original OC species called Mechangels. I really like that work a lot but it's on the backburner for now.

I've mentioned this before but another source of direct inspiration for Nova Futurum is the Kowloon Walled City and the culture that was built after stacking buildings so close together and maximizing the amount of space being used. I know a lot of people are inspired by the same city and get orientalist but I do not intend to take that route. Nova Futurum is American and it's based on the idea of "how can America get even worse?" and the like.

I'm such a fucking nerd about cyberpunk media, especially cyberpunk anime, which is a bit funny because I haven't seen a lot, just some. But what I've seen i've thoroughly enjoyed. I'll take any cyberpunk media recommendations, ofc, but I don't guarantee any timeliness about when I watch/read it.

Happy WBW! I'm missing my family pup, so what kind of pets are kept in your world?

In Nova Futurum they have cats, dogs, snakes, and almost every pet you can have in our world. They don't have insects as pets unfortunately due to environmental issues and the dying out of a lot of these insects. They do have robots as pets (like R2D2 or BB8) or even projector pets for rich people.

My favorite moment in Nova Futurum would be when we all meet Henry for the first time and then the gang gets arrested.

There is so much content from Nova Fut that i haven't published. Some of it is just stuff like my Notion page for Nova Fut aesthetics (i'm so proud of them) and some of it is the pinterest boards i made. other parts are some characters and art. I'll probably post the moodboards once I release the character profiles, and reupdate rowan's character profile post.

for the most part, with each wip, I tend to not share details online unless I can combine it with other pieces of info. it makes for a better post, especially with my writing and processing style. i also like to process things for a month or so to make sure they make sense.

I'm pretty bad at elevator pitches and summarizing. Yes, I did take a class that taught me this for jobs. No, I have not retained any information from that class. I'll try to give it a shot though, since it sounds like a good challenge.

The metropolis Nova Futurum is full of all sorts of people and machines and is world-renowned for its product production and its police-sponsored AI, which is installed into every cybernetic enhancement. The AI -- initially a concept in testing -- has secretly taken over nearly every element and machine within Nova Futurum. All AI takeover methods have been approved by the police who then sell the information to the government.

Not everyone knows about this though. Only local punks, black market cyber-mechanics, and those rebelling against the government learn about this, due to their tampering with their cybernetics and finding the AI. A native of Nova Futurum, Rowan Reyes, joins their childhood friends as they rebel against the government and the all-seeing AI.

Rowan, a secret hacker, joins the local punks in order to overthrow the corrupt government as they tighten rules and restrain their citizens through AI and powerful police forces.

What is the most embarrassing thing a blorbo or OC of yours has ever done?

Hello!! Thank you for the ask, this was really fun and a good challenge!

Rowan is a troublemaker and they find themselves getting into a lot of trouble pretty often. They're pretty used to seeing the same five cops patrolling the area and running across the government in nearly every aspect of life. They've been caught by the police so many times that they don't feel embarrassed when caught.

What they're not used to is hacking into a software and getting caught by other hackers. They're so used to being the best hacker in the neighborhood that when they get hacked and a bug from someone else, they find it to be embarrassing. They consider themselves the best hacker locally and when someone else broaches their code they feel both embarrassed and angry.

this gives me an idea for the plot oooh
