delilah was beyond exhausted and beyond annoyed. despite her hatred for the field she was currently studying at west hollow community college she had been roped into going to a networking event with doctors at the local hospital with the goal of making connections that would someday result in an internship. she hated hospitals, and hated the people who worked in them even more. who would choose a life inside a florescent, smelly, depressing place where everyone was either dying or complaining? if it wasn’t for the threats from her mother she wouldn’t even be studying on the pre-med track. but she couldn’t risk losing her unlimited credit card, so instead she pushed through and knew that some day being a doctor would make her rich enough to not need her parents anymore.
after her terrible day stuck in a hospital she made a stop to starbucks on her way back to her dorm to shower. she was going to need a caramel frappuccino to make it through the rest of the day without losing it on someone who probably didn’t deserve it. when she finally got it from the barista after what felt like half an hour of waiting she turned around a little too quickly and ran into someone. her drink spilled all over herself, just narrowly missing the name tag she had forgotten to take off from the event. “are you fucking kidding me,” she groaned, staring down at the stain all over her shirt.
she rolled her eyes and looked up at the person she had collided with, an annoyed look on her face even though she was the one who had caused the accident in the first place. “you know you really should pay more attention to your surroundings,” she blamed the other girl despite knowing she was in the wrong. she grabbed napkins from the counter and started cleaning herself off as much as she could, and then peeled the name tag off and threw it in the trash.
