NovelRank v. Amazon
Amazon has just killed a very useful book-sales-tracking site called NovelRank, which I used every day, as did many authors. As far as I can see, NovelRank didn't hurt Amazon in the slightest; it just crunched their already-public sales rank numbers. In fact, it probably helped authors target their marketing so that their sales, at Amazon and anywhere else, would improve.
Nonetheless, Amazon decided that after 9 years, without warning, NovelRank violated their Terms of Use, heard no appeals, and effectively ended NovelRank.
Thus, because I am incensed with them, may I suggest that you do NOT buy your books at Amazon if you have any alternative. Options:
IndieBound.org for indie bookstores near you Barnes & Noble Thriftbooks.com for used copies Bookdepository.com for books with free worldwide shipping Your library, which these days probably also allows ebook checkouts!
