Novraian Slowpoke- Dopey Pokémon

Type- Bug

Ability- Honey Gather/Sticky Hold/Regenerator (Hidden)

Until very recently, there were no Shellder in southern Novrai, so Novraian Slowpoke doesn’t use its tail to fish. Instead, it resembles a flower and gives off a sweet scent to attract Combee. However, the soporific aura that Novraian Slowpoke emits eventually causes the Combee to fall asleep, letting it eat the honey that they carry.

Novraian Slowbro- Hermit Crab Pokémon

Type- Bug

Ability- Immunity/Sticky Hold/Regenerator (Hidden)

Evolves from Novraian Slowpoke at level 37.

Sometimes, Combee will build a hive around Novraian Slowpoke’s tail, causing it to evolve. The honey produced in these hives is loaded with caffeine to keep the Combee awake despite Novraian Slowbro’s sleep-inducing powers. Predators, however, usually fall asleep before they can even get to the hive, and in exchange for this safeguard, Novraian Slowbro feeds on the Combee’s honey.

Novraian Slowking- Royal Pokémon

Type- Bug/Psychic

Ability- Immunity/Sticky Hold/Plague Surge (Hidden)

Evolves from Novraian Slowpoke when exposed to Royal Jelly.

Very rarely, Novraian Slowpoke will eat a special kind of honey produced by Vespiquen that reactivates its vestigial psychic abilities and induces its evolution into Novraian Slowking. This highly intelligent Pokémon uses its boundless charisma (or psychic powers) to command swarms of Combee. It’s rarely found in the wild, but when it is, it’s usually ruling over a Combee hive with Vespiquen.

Novraian Pyukumuku- Sea Cucumber Pokémon

Type- Fighting

Ability- Pure Power/Anger Point (Hidden)

For reasons still unknown to scientists, Novraian Pyukumuku are absolutely filled with rage. They are constantly seething anger, with nothing but pure hatred for the world and everything in it in their eyes. There’s almost no difference genetically between them and Alolan Pyukumuku; they’re just pissed off all the time. They use their fist-shaped innards to beat the bejezus out of their enemies.

Novraian Pyukumuku are incapable of using status techniques like Toxic or Protect; their movepool is filled entirely with physical attacks.

Novraian Vanillite- Fresh Snow Pokémon

Type- Ice/Grass

Ability- Double Dip/Snow Cloak/Weak Armor (Hidden)

Novraian Vanillite migrated south due to heavy predation from Pokémon such as Sneasel and Vesuvicius. Snow does not last all year in the areas to which they moved, so they became herbivorous, feeding on leaves and fruit. By eating the leaves of a certain plant, their bodies took on a unique flavouring which is repulsive to their former predators... but in the process, they became prime targets for hungry Minsect.

Novraian Vanillish- Icy Snow Pokémon

Type- Ice/Grass

Ability- Double Dip/Snow Cloak/Weak Armor (Hidden)

Evolves from Novraian Vanillite at level 30.

To protect itself from Minsect, Novraian Vanillish guards itself with a shell of bark stripped from a tree. This Pokémon tends to be gluttonous, hoarding berries and leaves in its shell to eat later. The cold air emitted from its body helps preserve its stash. As it grows, it moves out of its shell and creates a larger one, but it also leaves behind all the food it stored, which becomes a tasty meal for other Pokémon.

Novraian Vanilluxe- Snowstorm Pokémon

Type- Ice/Grass

Ability- Double Dip/Snow Warning/Weak Armor (Hidden)

Evolves from Novraian Vanillish at level 42.

Novraian Vanilluxe’s shell overflows with chilled fruit, which the two heads consume ravenously. Anyone who tries to pluck even a single berry from its stash will be attacked mercilessly with howling blizzards. Despite its aggressive temperament towards thieves, its trust can be easily earned by offering it sweet treats. Before the invention of refrigerators, these Pokémon were used to store perishable food.

Double Dip is a new ability in Novrai, originally from Pokéngine. It doubles the effect of any Berry consumed during battle.

Novraian Voltorb- Ball Pokémon

Type- Fairy/Dark

Ability- Solid Rock/Soundproof/Prankster (Hidden)

Pokémon in Novrai rarely fall for standard Voltorb’s typical look-like-a-Poké-Ball routine, but due to the proliferation of Pokémon like Swirlix, Gourmaggot, and Lickitung, who are easily lured in with sweet flavours, Novraian Voltorb have developed a sugary coating. Then, when an unsuspecting victim approaches to get a taste, they blow up, because they are total jerks.

Novraian Electrode- Ball Pokémon

Type- Fairy/Dark

Ability- Solid Rock/Soundproof/Prankster (Hidden)

Evolves from Novraian Voltorb at level 30.

Novraian Electrode have several colourful layers of sugar beneath their cream-coloured outer skin, visible when they open their mouths. Though they’re slower than regular Electrode, their dense bodies are impossible to crack, making them much stronger defensively. Their weak point is their red core, hidden within their centre- if it’s attacked, it will crumble to powder, and the Electrode will perish.

If these guys seem very similar to the old Nabble line, that’s because they are- they’re replacing that line, because while the Nabble line’s idea was great, the execution leaved a lot to be desired.

Novraian Skrelp- Mock Kelp Pokémon

Type- Grass/Water

Ability- Leaf Guard/Natural Cure/Adaptability (Hidden)

The pristine water in Novrai allows kelp forests to thrive, and much care is taken to ensure these forests are healthy and clean. Novraian Skrelp have had to evolve to stay camouflaged among the bright green kelp. It waves its tail, which still contains deadly toxins, to attract prey looking to graze- even a nibble can be fatal, letting Skrelp feast on the carcass.

Novraian Dragalge- Mock Kelp Pokémon

Type- Grass/Dragon

Ability- Leaf Guard/Natural Cure/Adaptability (Hidden)

Evolves from Novraian Skrelp at level 38.

Novraian Dragalge’s blooming yellow flower, flowing fins, and seemingly cheerful expression makes it a popular icon for beaches and scuba diving businesses. In reality, though, it is just as dangerous as Kalosian Dragalge. It swims swiftly through kelp forests, tangling up and eating anything that brushes against it. Its flower blooms brightest right after making a kill.

Novraian Cherubi- Cherry Pokémon

Type- Grass/Flying

Ability- Gale Wings/Solar Power (Hidden)

In Novrai, Cherubi have become much more ambitious in their pursuit of the sun. Their leaves have morphed to catch the wind, letting them soar closer to their beloved star. They can often be found leaping from the tallest branches of trees, hoping to catch a good gust of wind. Once they’re high in the air, they’ll begin flapping their leaves as hard as they can to reach new heights.

Novraian Cherrim- Blossom Pokémon

Type- Fire/Ghost

Ability- Moonfire/Dry Skin (Hidden)

Evolves from Novraian Cherubi when levelled up in an area with intense sunshine in the overworld.

As it turns out, when a plant gets too close to a flaming ball of gas, it burns up. Novraian Cherrim found this out the hard way. Their petals are burnt to a crisp and extremely fragile, breaking off with a slight touch. They have an intense fear of sunlight now, keeping their petals closed forever to avoid it. They often hide away in damp caves rather than risk being caught in the sun.

Moonfire is the signature ability of Novraian Cherrim. A Pokémon with Moonfire has its Fire-type attacks strengthened under rain, but weakened under sun.

Day 1 of Blue’s Spooky October Art Challenge- Multiple Limbs

Novraian Aipom- Long Tail Pokémon

Type- Bug

Ability- Run Away/Swarm/Unburden (Hidden)

Though Novrai has lush jungles, its overall cooler temperature than most regions makes it inhospitable to the berries that typically make up Aipom’s diet. Thus, they have become ambush predators instead, using their tail to lure in Pokémon that prey on Spinarak before leaping out at them and attacking. The extra limbs they have developed are surprisingly strong, used for strangling prey that gets too close.

Novraian Ambipom- Long Tail Pokémon

Type- Bug/Fighting

Ability- Technician/Swarm/Unburden (Hidden)

Evolves from Novraian Aipom when levelled up knowing the move Twineedle.

Novraian Ambipom swing through the canopies of Novrai’s jungles with agility and grace unmatched, but don’t be fooled by their elegant leaps- they are still dangerous predators. Upon spotting some tasty-looking prey, it will drop down from above without a sound and brutally beat up the poor creature with all of its limbs, and then inject paralyzing venom from the stingers on its tails. The fur on its tails is sticky, like Ariados silk, and helps ensure that Ambipom doesn’t slip when climbing through the treetops.

Yeah, I’m doing Inktober this year, using an art challenge that was absolutely not intended to be used for Fakemon. Eh. Not all of the entries will have sprites, but I happened to have these ones already made.
