(In which Nowhere Callowey gets back to work.)

"Oh enough of this." Nowhere waved off a few attendants, the women skittering off like mice, fearful of a wrath that would never come. Lady Mistwinter...she snorted, ladyship for a crimelord. One country's nobles kept another's criminal elements in line. Her husband was as good a man as they came- in her opinion -and he meant well, but why they insisted on this foolishness, the attendants the serving... It felt wrong. She been capable of dressing herself for nearly a century now, nothing changed with title. She winced as she pulled a dress pin from her wrist, folding and tucking the sleeve before carefully pulling the coat off, setting it aside on a dress form.

A crimelord... A broker... When had she done anything worth those titles? She was either lounging in the comfort of her manor in another country or playing courtier to the king in her own. She'd lost touch, lost her edge, her daughter ran The Family, her son hunted monsters, her entire future was retirement.

An undying woman aged out of her only career...

She eyed herself in the mirror, her mismatched eyes seemed to laugh at her, her curves had softened from time at rest, her figure was more matronly, her face seemed... Kinder. It was a shock even those servants feared her wrath, with her looking like a fattening aunt.

With the state of the kingdom of Thesta she had neglected many duties, many allies, many friendships. Her goals of a cut or so of every country, a branch of her Family tree in every kingship had gone on the backburner over insane dragons and mad kings. With that threat out of her hands, she felt lost and idle and unneeded. Where she was once a necessary evil she was now the opposite, she wasn't even evil.

Her pondering in the mirror lost her focus, the sound of footsteps behind her barely audible and she assumed it another servant- a sigh crossed her lips, the tiefling cocking her hip and holding out the pin.

"I took the liberty of removing this from my arm. If you are going to try again please remember undeath does not leave one unfeeling.... "

Nowhere Callowey: Are my priorities in the right place?

Lilith: What are your priorities?

Nowhere: Money and power.

Lilith: Well, I've never heard anything bad about either of those.

Lilith: Except for countless parables warning against them.

Lilith: Meh. You should be fine.

The Grand Reopening (open rp)

Nowhere Callowey had softer edges lately, the keen dagger eyes and sharp tongue had eased back to a more patient, wiser woman. She had seen her friends wed and retired and her estranged family knit back together in a way she'd never imagined.

The Seeker's Respite was full of dust and as she reopened the tavern, fence, and inn, she found herself a little wiser than before. Perched at her own bar, a new streak of sliver-white curls sprung from her brow and spiraling into the rest of the inky blackness of her hair.

She raised a glass of dark red wine to the burly, apathetic sea elf behind the bar and smiled, her wedding ring settled back in place on her hand, "Well it's good to be home."

Nowhere's Woes (closed)

When he received her letter, he could easily read the panic in the blood red ink. It was written by hand which was much unlike what he was used to when it came to Nowhere Callowey. Encoded in the special way only members of The Family had perfected. The first part shakes with nerves, unable to explain clearly followed by four words that would stop any heart, enscribed amidst a gentle reminder of a lost time to them both. "Nightstar, I am desperate. I need you. I cannot do this alone... She is in danger. I need you. Your Eclipse." Her fear was strong, in the way the pen bit into the parchment, in the drops of ink smeared at the paper. She feared, deeply. And he understood every word of it, the scent of wormwood and tobacco and fear deep in the parchment. He had not heard from Nowhere Callowey in nearly a decade, he had heard of her traveks, her deeds, he knew from the glittering illusions beneath her words where to find her. The Seeker's Respite tavern.

Mulling it over... (open prompt)

Nowhere reclines on the roof of her tavern, watching the stars move across the sky. In one hand she holds a pipe carved to look like a dragon's claw curled around the bowl, fragrant tobacco smoke exhales from her nostrils and she watches the city below her come to life in the night, the music from the outer patio drifting to her ears. A beautiful night in this new city... But a lonely one.

Nowhere to Run (closed Rp)

Nowhere had suffered a great loss. Her best agent carried away from her to a Circle controlled city and her heart was heavy with regret. The fault was her own, she had pushed Aelynth far too far against her nature, yet she had never lost a member of her family.

She had closed the tavern for the day, needing to repair damages from a prior night’s business. Several tables had been broken and they had lost a window in a scuffle caused by heavy drink. Nowhere was not a weak woman, she rarely felt things like regret or loss so profoundly, yet her she was, regretfully mourning the defection of her closest friend. Perhaps joining the Circle would break her. As she overlooked the tavern proper from the second floor she surveyed the damage to both her building and her organization. One skilled spy and saboteur lost to Daigo Belfir, and the other content to play a lute in her tavern, it seemed she would have to get her hands on new agents, form new alliances. Rebuilding an empire was stressful enough the first time, when she was in Storn. Now it seemed impossible, not knowing who to trust, the complicated nature of Regina Wormdrake and her counter Donatello… It was enough to make her head hurt.

She had sent letters out by clockwork raven to the other members of the circle a week prior, introducing herself and inviting them for a drink at her tavern for introductions. Daigo been the first to come, her Flametongue whiskey was to his taste and with it he took one of her closest friends. Now she waited, perhaps to see what the other members would take from her…

Trading Secrets (closed)

“There’s one thing this city’s taught me… It’s that you can put a price on anything…” Nowhere crossed her arms. “So what’s your price, then…”

Your character has just come into possession of documents pertaining to Nowhere’s true identity. This information can expose more about her than she’d like known and draw the attentions of enemies of her past, bounty hunters, and all manner of danger on her head. She knows, and she’s here to bargain for the safe return of the information and your silence…

The Seekers Respite (Closed Rp)

Nowhere Callowey rested her palms on the bartop. The wood was warm beneath her hands. Her black hair fell over her face as she looked down at her fingers, splayed across the cherry wood counter. Her lips curled into a smile and she raised her head, looking over the room. Tables and chairs were set out around the spacious floor, in the center of the right wall a step up led to a stage. The left wall held a fine stone fireplace with a crackling magical fire lit within it, burning blue. Sconces hung on the walls illuminating the rest of the room and the windows were draped in fine velvet curtains, drawn aside for more light. Behind the bar was a shelf of fine wine and booze, two kegs of ale waiting to be tapped at the far end, and shelves of glasses and mugs. The front of the bar was carved rather nicely with a scene of battle worn companion’s sharing tales over drink. A dragonborn barbarian stuffed his face with meat, a sea elf tattooed a key onto the finger of a tiefling of her own likeness, a goblin sat aside playing a lute, a dwarven paladin downed an ale, and two elves- one a female cleric and the other one male, hooded in simple clothing -glowered over the others. They were all frozen in finely carved detail bordered by the wings of two ravens. Anyone who knew her well would recognize the party immediately, and the small key tattooed on her right pointer finger- but this was a new city, far from Storn or her friends. The kitchen was bustling already, four bodies rushing about preparing for business that evening, and a small human girl scrubbed the tables and swept the floors. It smelled like fire and meat and freshly baking bread and the scent drifted into the street.

The Seekers Respite was open for business. Any normal person without keen eyes would see a fine drinking establishment. The menu, filled with the typical tavern fare and a few more interesting options, was posted on the wall beside the door. Those who saw more than what lay beyond their nose, saw the shifting subtleties of a enchantment hiding a thieve’s cant message on the menu, advertising a fence and an information hub to any shadow within the city who spoke the cant- and proved worthy of association.

This new city was an interesting place, there was no doubt about that, but she came here for a reason. Storn had grown predictable and boring, and whispers had come to her about something that intrigued her. She sent her agents out, and they had brought her the lead she was hoping for. Aelynth had written to her asking a favor, underlying a message regarding the topic she sought. The Circle… an organization that was as heavily shadowed as any guild of thieves with much darker blood flowing through it. So she met an interesting character as she paid her favor to a sister in arms, and made her way into their territory. She bought a defunct inn and shaped it well, the upper floors converted into living quarters for her and a few select agents, and the bottom floor turned into as fine a cover for a foreign branch of the Stornish thieve’s guild as any.

So now she waited...
