🌹Today on my #NewHistoryList I highlight and celebrate Nicole Nikkirob Robinson | @eyesofNikkirob Nicole Marie Robinson (her unofficial middle name). Where does the lovefest start for the Queen of New ORLEANS? Not enough adjectives describe her amazingness but QUEEN of 504 is a start. City historian, cultural preserver, foodie, tour guide, novice shooter, event producer, festival hopper, indulges me in quests for anything ‪LENNY KRAVITZ‬ and a true NOLA BADDIE. Anytime I meet someone from New Orleans, I ask them if they know her… if they say “NO”, I usually say “Then you ain’t really from nawleans”. Her accent is thick as FVCK, her hair is colorful, she skin is flawlessly black and her spirit is what the cosmos are made of. GOD truly made her special. She is my family, her sister is my sister and my sister is hers. Nicole is beyond a rider. Creative and passionate about what she does (I don’t really know what she does), she IS the “CREATOR OF EXPERIENCES” – the ultimate missing link. If you want something done with pure excellence, she is IT. Nicole and I always introduce ourselves to people by saying "this is my best friend IN REAL LIFE". She holds me accountable for not letting my dreams defer. When you are in her circle, she is protective, supportive and critical… all at the same time. She is your biggest cheerleader. Social media has given us a false sense of connectivity. We see each other on timelines, double click a few pics, comment on posts in 280 characters or less and then we feel we have connected. Not NICOLE. If you go a few days without communication, be sure you’ll get the “hey heaux, I’m calling to make sure yo ass ain’t in a ditch”. Nicole truly is LOVE, not because she says it but because she lives it. She truly is the iron that sharpens another. BTW, she is the friend who came up with this series so it’s only right I celebrate her awesomeness. So we came up with: #BlackHistoryxBlackFriends #MyHistoryxMyFriends 🌹Today on my #NewHistoryList I highlight and celebrate Dawn Baxter | @dawniebdub 🌹I don’t think we sing the praises of our everyday hero enough. Dawn Baxter Woodhouse. DawnieBDub. Dawn Bax-Wood. Mother. Wife. Sister. Executive. Runner. Fly girl. Sister in Christ. Sneaker aficionado. Martha’s Vineyard connoisseur. Parker J’s Mama. I met Dawn many moons ago through business but I’m glad we developed a deeper connection non work related. Throughout the years we have done some kick ass campaigns and have come up with some amazing partnerships. I’ve pitched her artist, she’s pitched me product.. we are a happy work couple. Lol. Dawn is an executive at NIKE who has been responsible for some amazing activation and collaborations throughout the years (don’t try to ask her to be your 🔌either). Chances are when you’ve seen you’re favorite artist booked at a Nike event, her and her team have had their hand in it. When she’s not curating dope events she’s being mother to the flyest kid or running a marathon or doing something physically active(yeah not me). I’m always in awe of women who balance this role of being a wife, working mother and their respective successful career. My fairy godchild. Fearless. Brave. Smart. Sexy. Scottie is one of my youngins and I enjoy watching her grow and blossom into her greatness. In a short (but not really) period of time, this young culture creator has made a name for herself writing her own story, changing the rules and paving a new road for herself. Since her mother is a LEGEND (if you don’t know, google is your friend) it’s only right that she create her own legendary moves. Radio host of her own show, event host, tastemaker, music Lover, brand builder (Scottie’s Feedback or Sunday’s at Scottie’s... come on, those tunes bump). Too often we dismiss the younger generation for not doing things the way we did it, or in the timing of when we did it. What makes the younger generation different from us is exactly why they must be celebrated. Scottie is a force. So we came up with: #BlackHistoryxBlackFriends #MyHistoryxMyFriends 🌹Today on my #NewHistoryList I highlight and celebrate Mark Pitts | @BystormPitts 🌹Mark “Gucc” Pitts is an anomaly, a rare breed. Goggle him because my post won’t wont do his career highlights justice. His resume is like your talent bucket list for anyone in the music business. Google might tell you who he’s managed or what projects he’s A&R’d but what Google won’t say is how this energetic, music loving, dance mania pop locking KING gets up at 4 am, hits the gym at 5am and is in office by 7am (check his daily IG story). Mark has either managed or signed and A&R’d some of the biggest names in music: Biggie, Usher, Chris Brown, Miguel, J Cole, Ro James, Sam TheHypebeat (shut up, a girl can dream). Mark is an industry GIANT, he’s a fvckn TITAN. As BIG as his profile is, he’s still the most humblest, hardworking, realest person in the game. He’s very low key (sometimes) & let’s the work speak for itself. Mark is layered with passion, sincerity, integrity and Brooklyn grit. I’m in awe of him when I watch him at work. I’m blessed to be 5 steps down the hall from him so I get a bird eye view of his creative mind and loud music (But we wouldn’t have it any other way). Mark is a mentor to many & his actions towards the yute dem reminds me always keep an open door policy to my yute. When it comes to BLACK executives, in POWER POSITIONS in the business staying TRUE to cause, the music, the culture and themselves, Mark Pitts IS THE GOAT! I seriously think he needs MORE of his flowers.
