Oooooooh!  I very much like this idea!  Like, "Mario and Luigi are ..."  "One Direction ....."  "Cinderella was ......"  "The frog prince wore...."

i wonder if it would help them memorize vocab words if you tried like character names? Like the princesses and other popular childrens characters?? Have you tried that??
